urbex
so, i am cruising on newegg.com, and i see that this Phenom II X6 1090 is only $20 more than this Phenom II X4 970 -- so is there a reason i shouldn't just pony up the twenty bucks? Especially considering i can get the X6 in a combo with an MSI mobo here at neweggNope, the hexcore has a lower clock speed than the quad core and chances are you'll never use a program that benefits from the two extra cores. It's rare for a video game to even use more than two. Erik005
For gaming the quad-core is more bang for buck.
Vecna6667
For gaming the quad-core is more bang for buck. Most gamers don't even need a quad-core for the most part, but if you have a high-end graphics card, it will benefit from the quad-core and more and more games are being optimized for the quad-core as well. The hexa-core is mostly for video recording and transcoding and even then I would go for a hyper-threaded quad-core from intel to gain eight threads instead of 6, but just for gaming, the AMD processor your looking at is just as good. urbex
850w? Seems a little crazy. You should at least find one from a better manufacturer.Only 130GB of storage space? That's pretty tiny. Also, you might want to spend $40 on an aftermarket CPU cooler to overclock your phenom.
Erik005
A good PSU is very important, get a corsair, coolermaster or antec one. Also the stock-cooler is usually noisy and hot. Here are some HD6850's that are a lot better than the standard model. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125353 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127566
