halex1316
I need a lot of help. Because, whenever I install a mod, and usually I'm running only one at a time, my game just crashes as soon as I double click it. I've tried reinstalling it, and stuff like that, but to no solution. If anyone has Skype, please message me at howlopendragon and if you can walk me through the whole process of downloading a mod and installing it PROPERLY *no tutorials have helped me yet, because they're made from people who do it all the time and it seems that only they know what they're talking about* Yeah, PLEASE HELP. Taurni
Ok, first copy everything from the location you downloaded it to, and paste it into the folder labeled Data the directory you installed fallout into. (Usually its C:/Program Files/Bethsuda Softworks/Fallout 3/Data" From there you can either open the Fallout Mod Manager (Download link is here), or the generic launcher and activate the .esp file. If that dose not work, simply update to the latest version of fallout (patch is here) and try to run the game again. Also make sure you look at the requirements for a mod, if it requires any of the DLCs and you don't have them, get the DLC(s) or the mod will not work, causing crashes, or odd things like missing weapon and armor parts. halex1316
Ok, that sort of clears it up. But there's one thing I don't understand at the moment. When I unzip the file, it's a weapon mod btw, I get a data folder. Inside that data folder, are folders for called Sound, which inside it has an fx folder, and inside says the name, but not sure what's in the folder. Then, there's a meshes folder, with the files specific to that mod inside. If I manually do this, do I take the folder inside the data (for the mod) folder, and paste it into the already made Meshes folder? For example :C:\Users\Alex\Documents\Fallout 3 Mods\data Then, there's C:\Users\Alex\Documents\Fallout 3 Mods\data\sounds\fx\*w/e the mod's name is*\files for that mod C:\Users\Alex\Documents\Fallout 3 Mods\data\meshes\*w/e the mod's name is\files for that mod etc. Do I take the *w/e the mod's name is* folder and paste that into the already made Meshes directory? Because, I use Fallout Mod manager, and I go to package manager, Download FOMod, click the .rar or .zip file, and it says the mod is installed, but even when I do that, it doesn't work :( It's just a simple weapon's mod, and I don't know what else to do... halex1316
Here's the mod I'm installing... if you could take screenshots for me on you installing it, that would be AMAZING :) If that works for you, then I may have to delete ALL DATA from fallout 3 and just reinstall the DLC. Does anyone know where any external files besides mods would be saved? Like saves, etc? http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13724 After I install CALIBR, Craft, and FWE version 6.03, what do I do? because it's the meshes folders, sound, etc that really mess me up... I don't replace them, because some other mods could use the base Meshes in the meshes folder, so that would just delete all the previous date, which would screw up Fallout 3. nisen
edit: your in luck, my latenite dl habit needed a fix and FWE Weapon pack looks promising, so can help. If you allready have FO3 1.7 and sappose all the DLC1. download FOSE and follow the install instructions in the readme*2. download FOMM and install the application3. download FWE 6.03** part 1, 2 and hotfix and unpack each in seperate temporary folders. Take the contents of part 2 data folder and put it in the part 1 data folder (so it overwrites if necessary) and do the same thing with the hotfix, so all parts are merged4. open FOMM and up the top under tools, find where it says Archive Invalidation, and let it change the ini file5. click the package manager tab, and in the new window, find one of the options in the first tab called 'create from folder' (think thats the easiest way) and find your part 1 data folder with everything there. When its finished converting, double click to install6. optional: lauch the game (thru FOSE) to see it doesnt crash allready7. FWE Weapons Pack is ready to convert to fomod, just tell package manager to 'create from folder' and double click to install, when it asks to overwrite smthg from FWE 6.03 choose yes8. download BOSS and add it to the data folder, then launch the file called BOSS - Update Masterlist thats in the data folder not the boss folder9. then download FO3edit and install the application. launch it, wait, and when finished, right click down the bottom of the left side of the screen choosing "Create Merged Patch" give it any name, click ok, wait a few seconds for it to add a merged patch esp with all your mods and close FO3edit. Then reopen Fomm, and tick that merged patch esp. After adding or removing any mods allways delete that esp and repeat the process10. launch the game from the FOSE shortcut* if your not sure which is the actual game folder, where mods go, ithink Fomm locates it automatically when installing so open that and look in the Settings tab under Fallout 3/Fallout 3 Directory** FWE 6.03 does include CALIBR and CRAFT Edited March 3, 2011 by nisen
