Enemies don't take damage on first hits

After getting back to Skyrim after leaving it alone for a while, I encountered an annoying issue that I can't recall having last time I played: Enemies have more health than they should. That is to say, the health bar doesn't go down at once. It takes a few hits before the damage becomes visible, or one strong hit that is not as effective as it should be. This doesn't seem to happen to all enemies either, just most of them. And I don't know what determines this, if anything.

I read an older topic about the same problem, and there the villain was the Deadly Dragons mod, one that I don't have installed. So it must be some other mod causing the same issue. Does anyone know mods that does this? Or a different cause of this error? I'll add a list of my mods if necessary, but I'd rather not due to... well, sheer laziness, honestly.

If you don't add your mod list, no one can help you.

Serious question though, what difficulty are you playing on?

Firstly, I'm playing mostly on Expert. I tried changing it to see if the different amounts of HP would make a change, but it didn't seem to.

As for my mod list, I guess I'll just have to take the time to write them all down. It was dumb not to do it to begin with. (If it makes any difference, I use LOOT to organize my mods)

I've never used Sky_re before, but I think that changes enemy health. Have you tried altering that?

Also does this occur to any and all monsters?

After doing some reading on Sky_re:

NOTE: Some of these elements can be toggled on/off in game. See theguide I linked at the top of the page.

Combat in vanilla Skyrim basically consisted of spamming power attacks with an "Absorb Stamina" enchantment or vegetable soup. No tactic was required, and stamina did virtually nothing.

Thus, I decided to make a new combat system that heavily relies on stamina (and, to a lesser extent, on health) and forces you to use more tactic, especially when using the other enemy boosting modules EnemyAI, EnemyScaling and EncounterZones.

All changes apply to all actors; they dynamically spread as you approach someone. Since it's all about numbers and tables, I strongly recommend to read the guide linked in the FAQ to see whether this module is for you.

I haven't really gone too in-depth by lining up every type of enemy and see what happens, but from what I can remember I've been having this issue with humanoid enemies, wolves and spiders. I know that it's more than that, but I can't think of any other specific ones.

One that I don't seem to have this issue with was flame atronachs. However I still don't know if this is something creature-specific or randomized, or a mix. Though I'll try disabling Sky_re and see what happens.

EDIT: I was wrong, it only affects humanoids. All other enemies' health works normally. I don't know where I got it affecting wolves and spiders from... Though I still don't know what's causing it. Doesn't seem to be Sky_re.

tl;dr: There's an issue with Disparity (or at least revealed by Disparity - it may be a vanilla bug) that causes health bars not to go down until the enemies' health falls below vanilla levels, i.e. if an enemy has 35 health in vanilla, but 50 health with mods, the health bar won't go down until the enemy has less than 35 hp. Enemies are taking damage, you just can't see it right away.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know this is a fairly old topic, but I have some info that may help some people who have noticed enemies healthbars not depleting for the first couple hits.

I've been doing a ton of testing with new characters as I continue adding mods to my load order. For this purpose I often use the 'escape from this cell' option with Alternate Start. Having played through that scenario at least a hundred times now I noticed that the ghostly guards there never appeared to be taking damage with my first 2-3 hits, even if one was a power attack.

Initially I figured this was due to script lag or something, but as it turns out the enemies actually ARE taking damage - it just doesn't start showing up in their health bars until they've lost like 20-30% of their health. This can be easily tested by opening the console in between strikes, clicking on the enemy in question, and typing the 'getav health' command.

I've been working through creating a STEP profile, but I keep getting sidetracked to install other mods, however I haven't installed any combat or perk mods yet, so my guess is that it has something to do with either an armor mod or a UI mod (I have several of both). I tested against a vanilla-ish profile that has little more than USLEEP, SkyUI, and Alternate Start, and the problem went away. During this testing, I noticed that the ghosts in my modded setup somehow had 50 health, whereas the ghosts in vanilla only had 35, so that may be a factor somehow.

At this point I don't know how to fix the health bars to reflect damage more accurately. If I get really motivated I'll do a more thorough test to track down the offending mod by adding a few mods back in at a time, but until then, at least I know the enemies are in fact taking the appropriate damage.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EDIT: I tracked down the mod responsible, in my case at least, to Disparity. This was also the mod affecting the ghost guard's health, boosting it to 50. Removing Disparity returned their health to 35 and damage to health bars became proportional to the damage being done. I don't see Disparity listed in the OP's load order, but perhaps this info will assist others.

This problem is being discussed under the bug section of Disparity's mod page under the thread titled 'Strange Invulnerability'.

Yeah Enemy Hp bar goes error and take no damage at the first hit because of mod that edit humanoid health/stamina/magicka point. I get this problem after try installing race ability redone mod. When i delete that mod the problem solved
