WINE supports fallout3 now!

I'm running fallout3 v1.7 w/all DLCs on wine 1.3.13, on ubuntu 10.10 (64-bit).

My rig is good, but not terribly impressive: Core2Duo E6420 w/8GB ddr2, and a geforce9800 running 2 22" LG LCDs

I run fallout in 1440x900 windowed mode, and it's good.

I followed the directions at:

http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=14322

New versions of FOMM do _not_ work for me. I have to use an old version to fire up the game, but it works so far.

I haven't gotten Martigens Mutant Mod fire up yet, but I've got a bunch of other mods going. It slows down a bit with heavy combat, but it's not bad.

Occasionally it freezes, but it hasn't taken the OS down with it yet.

I can alt-tab out of it to deal with something in another window, and pop back in at will w/o seeming problems.

Music doesn't play, though. Radio music does, but not the ambient stuff. I'm going to look into that shortly.

For some reason I always thought we had fallout 3 working under wine,it just required a little effort on the user's part :teehee:
