SteelPipboy
Did the game crash a lot before you added a mod? If not then its probably one of the mod's interfering with each other.
jallard
Did the game crash a lot before you added a mod? If not then its probably one of the mod's interfering with each other. I have never played the vanilla version of the game. Like I have stated before I have over 43 mods attached to my Dragon Age Origins game and it has never crashed. It too is a downloaded version from Direct2Drive.
SteelPipboy
Fallout and Dragon age are two completely different games. Fallout can crash due to a number of reasons, and one of those being mods. If your mods are disabled and fallout is still crashing then it can be your hardware or a program interfering with it. The next time your fallout game crashes check the event viewer and look at the details. Also Have you ever reinstalled the game at all or validate the files? Whenever I have reinstalled the game and I have done that more than a dozen times, because of the crashes, it has never asked to be revalidated. Also, my hardware is up-to-date. I have the newest XFX ATI Radeon HD 6850 video card, which has DirectX 11. It isn't my system: Time of this report: 3/8/2011, 05:55:32 Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_rtm.101119-1850) Language: English (Regional Setting: English)System Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. But I could care less about gamespy. I have uninstalled it anyway. Incidentally, I have the downloaded version of Fallout 3 -- Game of the Year, from Direct2Drive, and I too have about 40 mods attached to it; and, it hardly ever crashes when I play it. Any way, I have gone ahead and uninstalled everything again --including Steam as always. I just now finished installing both Steam and the game. I went in to"Verified Integrity of game cache" and got the following message: "1 Files failed to validate and will be reacquired." Whatever the hell that means. There is nothing blocking installation that I am aware of.
SteelPipboy
Well if your game never crashed with all those mods it can be a couple things, Either you corrupted the game, a program interfering, installed the wrong mod, or it can be a faulty drive. What about your hard drive? How old is it and what company is it? Ex: seagate, Western Digital, Samsung? You may want to check on your hard drive, even new or old it can be faulty or broken. Before going into that right away I want to see the details of the error,(the game error), from the Event viewer. If any other games or programs are acting up it can be your HD thats causing the problem. Just type Event viewer in the start menu search box and look for the last time your game crashed. Should be under custom views, admin events.

SteelPipboy
Yeah, that code 0xc0000005 means that its a memory violation error. I would check your hard drive further status to see if its causing the problem. I had the exact same error when my game was crashing, all I did was a clean re-install of windows 7 on a new drive. A lot of my software is working better now and Fallout doesn't crash anymore. Download Speedfan and select the S.M.A.R.T tab then select perform online check. If there is nothing wrong with the Hard drive then it might be the Ram. Fallout uses around 1.5-2Gb depending on the settings/quality.

It only sees 3.25GB. When I went on the Internet to look up Speedfan all I got was ARO 2011. Is this the program? If it is there is no S.M.A.R.T. to check. So, like an idiot I installed it anyway, much to my displeasure. During the initial install it asked if I wanted to install ASK TOOLBAR, I clicked no. It installed it anyway. If I were thinking of purchasing this program, they immediately lost a sale by allowing to install the ASK TOOLBAR, even after I had checked "NO." I despise companies like that. I got suckered into purchasing JV16 PowerTools for $50 and it's worthless. It suppose to clean your registry, RIGHT......!
SteelPipboy
Thats not the right program, here is the website, Speedfan If it only sees 3 out of the 6 then theres something wrong with the placement of your sticks or your motherboard is faulty. Check to see if the sticks are not loose on the motherboard.

Check to see if the sticks are not loose on the motherboard. It sees the 6GBs but it only uses 3.35GB of the RAM. What's the point of installing 6GB of RAM if the damn system only uses 3.25GBs? Incidentally, I was at that website and ARO 2011 is what installed.
