TrooperScooperMKII
II don't think that the mainframe would be unshielded... it's pretty important. As I posted earlier, why not have the mainframe be decaying due to age a la Rex, it isn;t poisoned, it's going senile  Also, I think that future storyline developments should be in a private thread. I've got some specific ideas, I'll PM you.
TrooperScooperMKII
A modeler has posted some building pieces. Of particular interest are the "cave bunker" pieces which IMHO could easily pass for mine shafts.http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=39551

I've got some specific ideas, I'll PM you. I agree I definitely want the mainframe very well protected that's why I suggested having it in the bomb shelter vault at the very bottom. Killing the mainframe and rescuing the tribals chosen one are the main quests. Both should be challenging to achieve. I also think it is a good idea to obscure the storyline so that people checking out the project don't run into spoilers. The only problem with PM is only one person sees it. So I thought why not put it on our project page. The page is currently hidden from public view so I think we can peruse, discuss etc without worrying about potential players stumbling across spoilers. I'll PM everyone the link in a sec. I know it will be a hassle to have 2 threads but I think we should keep them both. This thread has generated interest and we've grown one person to a small group. As we continue to post our ideas and progress in this thread, we may accumulate more group members, which can help move the project along faster. But for anything that would be a spoiler for the player and for mundane stuff like the esp/esm cycles we should discuss that in the project page. TrooperScooperMKII
Sounds perfect, I never knew you could have a thread like that. In any event, the custom pieces I found seem interesting, and they are listed as Modder's Resources, so it won't be much of a hassle to get permission to use them. I've already DL'd the file for use in another unrelated level design. Incidentally, I'm not that experienced with the GECK, but I know the basics, and have worked quite a bit on a questline:http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/280905-airship-bunker/I can't really get much done with it by myself, but I figured that I might as well work on a few of the more mundane levels while I learn the ropes, for what it's worth, and the post should give you an idea of how I write. No problem I think we're all beginners here You know, there should probably be billboards or something near the park, i.e. announcing the park's grand opening. I don't think it would have been well established, though it would have opened before the War, but it wouldn't have been in full swing yet; it would be a new attraction, so to speak. Also, I think that it should be part of a Gov't conspiracy to test bio stuff on teh population... not FEV or a weapon, but a drug/medicine of some kind, perhaps Psycho? I can put one near or in the rubble. There's a decent billboards at least 1 story high near that grab and grub and there's a a couple of of good sunset dds's used as signs at the headquarters. I'll add the amusment park txt. It would be nice too if we had a western scene of the park town or something to super impose over the bottom. I guess I could take a screenshot of the park when it's finished and add it to the sign near the end of the mods completion. As far as the Gov. conspiracy your right on target. The vaul wiki lists all vaults as being a gov test (in association with vault-tec) or a control vault. But lets make this one's test the organic cpu as overseer instead of the drug. That way we kill two birds with one stone. Mainframe idea: Mainframe becomes erradic from condensation and radiation build up in the lower mainframe housing which contains the now slowly decomposing brain (from the excessive condensation and radiation), the lower mainframe housing should be in the sewers, having the interactable mainframe (a big monitor with the owners face) in the upper housing unit on the lower level of the vault. Thus allowing 2 endings to the mainframe. 1: Planting C4/Time Bomb/(hacking/reprograming) to destroy or reprogram the mainframe 2: Fix damaged circuit board and escort the choosen (to the mind absorption chamber) I see where your going with that, but I was kind of thinking of a different direction. I want the player to have to face a mini vault where the mainframe is. Partly because we can put some heavy opponents down there, hardened security bots, turrents etc and if we blow him up we end up bypassing that level, making it too easy. I mean we can still blow up the mainframe instead of personally killing it, but it should be as hard as fighting your way in to the mini-vault or have dire consequences if it's easy. For instance maybe the whole reactor would have to go into meltdown to blow up the mainframe, endangering the tribals and the whole valley. But the 2nd part of your idea we can certainly implement (ie siding with the mainframe). I'd like to see at leas 2 ways to accomplish every quest and at least 2 choices in re: to alliances/enemies. Maybe the owner could look like Ted Turner (He's f**King creepy), or Walt Disney (i.e. romours of his head/body being cryonically Preserved)More the likely Ted Turners the way to go for the owner, just look at him and imagen him wearing a 10 gallon hat. LOL yeah I do remember him being kinda zone'd out on a cnn interview, havn't seen him in the news in years though. I can try to start with the sewers or a small vault, i can not work in full speed because of school... but ill try :) This is really going to be a great mod That would be great kagstrom2100, if you could tackle the sewer or park sub-level(s). I think the mini-vault is still in flux, since we are going to have to have the big finale there at quest end. OK hold off on the private forum for a bit, it's not working as expected I need to look into it when I get back.
TrooperScooperMKII
The reactor probably wouldn't be the only source of power for the park; if the owner wanted to prepare for Armageddon, he would want to have as many redundant systems as possible, and nuclear power isn't exactly user friendly if it breaks :nuke: Besides, the park is in the sunny Mojave Desert! It would be quite natural to have solar panels to complement the reactor. We could even throw in a few wind turbines (or use the old windmill stuff already in game) as background scenery, though that would be overkill.THe solar panels could be part of a quest- perhaps the owner didn't anticipate the presence of hostile tribesmen, and left the panels outside the park so they didn't detract from the ambient setting. He would definitely have a fence around it, maybe even a few sentries, but it could still be easy prey for the tribals, which might be why the MF is so reluctant to wage open war with the tribes (along w/ the other complication I mentioned) and is buttering them up. TrooperScooperMKII
Looks great Flaarg, especially given how quickly you made it! Not sure how to make it look lumpier, would adding the knobs and such be easier as texturing or modeling?

Not sure how to make it look lumpier, would adding the knobs and such be easier as texturing or modeling? I'm going to attempt to make the model knotty/gnarled looking so i'll let you know. Also where you able to import the spfshovel5.STL into blender?

I don't see the spfshovel5.STL in my mailbox yet, but I'll make sure and convert it to a nif and texture as soon as it arrives. EDIT: Hmmm still hasn't shown up, do you want to try sending it again?
