QFT. By all means I don't disrespect nor discard the hard work of every modder out here, but the Nexus is literally flooded with skimpy armor/clothing/whatever mods that are always getting to the hot files just because players want to see their female waifu wandering around butt-naked. In the meanwhile other mods meant to improve the gameplay experience, immersion simply stay in the dark, which I find kinda sad.

Is it possible to create a "sexy hot files section" of some sort?

It has nothing to do if I have an issue with nudity or not. It has to do with REAL mod makers and their REAL mods which are overseen because of all that skimpy stuff flooding the Nexus.
I have nothing against nudity, I only find these mods ridiculous, because, let's face it, at the end of the day, these are only nude pixels and I don't know why people are so crazy about them and I will NEVER understand that. I play computer games since I was 14 years old, thats 28 years ago and I NEVER used those kind of mods, because to me they are senseless. It's okay with me, if people are using these kind of mods, but when I see that simple made mods were voted for file of the month or are in the hot files and other mods which were made with love and a huge amount of time, but never made it to the hot files, then this makes me mad, sorry, but that's how I am and I think in my age, I can't change that.

It seems skimpy mods receive too much attention because many users don't find the content filtering options nexusmods provides, despite these options being one of the cool things of this site and working perfectly well. So this is a UI issue, not a cultural one.

But there is a section on your user profile where you can block seeing these mods. A lot of people didn't even know this part of the site existed, so as part of the redesign it's obvious we need to make the user profile section a bit more intuitive.

As far as removing it altogether, that won't happen. We are a mod site at the end of the day and people have worked hard on their mods no matter what the content. Yes, it is also quite a popular category.

Each person has their own likes and dislikes, our job is to ensure that you only see the files that you would like to download.

While I can understand where you're coming from, again diversity of opinion is what it is ...
For example I don't particularly like that "modded loot". In theory it's a good one,
In practice it adds another layer of scripts running constantly all through skyrim (noooooooo)
When you can have dynamic patchers doing the leveled lists for you (Lootification for example might be a good replacement for modded loot) which is more work to setup the initial mods & load order, but less hassle afterward.
That said, that doesn't mean modded loot is bad. It's a good one, for "not script heavy mod setups" I'd recommend it for ease of use/install probably.


I think a few things that should be retained for the design of the website:
-ease of filtering out skimpy/adult stuff in a pinch but also ease of watching it again (tabs ???) (I know it's currently possible in the search attributes just slightly not exposed enough for some people ?)
-maybe some sort of "rising popular mods" ( most endorsements in the last week/last month)
-"latest unrated mods" (mods that went below the community radar, have very few endorsements and are rather new, last month or so)

You are so showing your prejudices. It is enough for you to say you do not prefer those types of mods, and you would prefer not to see them.

So please use the filters, and do not browse under the clothing, armour or other related catagories as they add nothing to gameplay experience or immersion. Gameplay and immersion being defined by the creators of the game.

If every website catered to the demands of it's users to remove content that was offensive to them, every website on the internet would be blank.

According to the survey, we're all adults here, you can turn your filter on if you don't want to see nude mods, while I can leave my filter off so I CAN see nude mods.

See? Now we're both happy, and we're both LEFT WITH A CHOICE of what we can see for content without making the Nexus bend over backwards for one person, and delete content, depriving the rest of us from it.

On the subject of skimpy armour and nudity - I don't mind either considering the history of art, ie painting, and sculpture etc and human history in general. I don't see a reason for me to block them. I use body replacers in my games after all. As someone else mentioned blocking these mods can also lock me out of more good ones by the same authors. I don't even really care about the prostitution mods even though I don't use them.

I am however offended as a female by the obvious porn mods, here and elsewhere, that make a mockery of the female form and in some cases reveal the creator's hatred and fear of women as equal humans. After all, how many of these mods do you see ridiculing males to the same extent, and I wouldn't want that either. Mods like a certain "Nympho" mod on the Skyrim Nexus is a "fine" example of this, not to mention others like Estrus.

We've been told these mods are not going away from the Nexus at least, so my opinion as one of those "rare" female gamers who visits here doesn't matter. :sad:

Seems like a gross overinterpretation.
Looking at mentioned "Nympho" I see badly done models and excessive focus on "desirable" elements of female form which ended up looking terrible instead of sexy. Based on this I could make wild guesses about its creator preferences or his experience (or lack of thereof) with women. But how you got hatred from this, I don't understand.

I don't know... I'm female, but (and this is just my opinion here) i'm divided about this kind of stuff:

on one hand, I think the sort of stuff the OP mentioned is part of a general cultural trend (at least in the US, I don't know about the rest of the world) that is more liberal and accepting about matters such as these that were once considered taboo to talk about/discuss, much less be shown in a whatever-the-equavilant-of-a-video-game-was-back-then.

On the other hand, looking at things like the gamergate controversy and all of that outright ghastly treatment of (mostly) women... it's obvious that misogyny in the gaming industry is very much alive and well.

I am a mod creator also, I just don't publish my work. I horde my things all for myself =p
The only thing published publicly I helped with is the Fine Faces texture. I worked on the neck, ears and redid the feet textures for SAM body.

One day i will publish one of my mods that is not too personal (not one of my OC's is what I mean)

I also download tons of skimpy armor and have nude mods. Not for any pervy reasons, rather as an artist I find the human form beautiful. I want my characters to be perfect and customized, every bit of them.

That's my 2 cents anyway ^^

It could simply be that a lot of the ladies around simply didn't answer the survey. Many people just come for the mods, and may not pay attention to the news, so may not have seen it.

Well, considering majority of most popular titles featuring brutal males with weapons (guns or swords) killing as a main goal (like in 90% of video games) making dumb sexist jokes on the go, or female character as main protagonist in waaaay too skimpy looks attracting young horny males...

Fightning, racing, building or sports don't usually attract females, that's why SIMS is n1 on fem gaming list, which is sad, really...

My only concern about any nude mods, male or female, is the amount of kids that play this game, and come here looking for mods. A better idea might be a more extended survey (as in, over a longer period of time), in order to catch people with a wider range of schedules. At least a week would be needed to get a broader picture of things, and even then, this being Summer, the percentage of those still of school age is likely to be skewed higher.

If the only idea of the survey was demographics, I am sure there is some way for those in charge to access statistics on what percentage of account holders have declared themselves to be what gender, or what age in their profile (as well as those that decline to state). The site also tracks when an account holder was last active, and whether they have posted any mods, so if they wanted to limit the results to only currently active members, or only mod authors, that could be done as well. I would be curious to see those broader statistics myself. But I believe the actual point of the survey was to get opinions of what the site is doing right and wrong, and what users in general thought should be improved, and how. The demographic information on the respondees was, I think, provided more as an interesting aside then as the intended results of the survey.

Nude doesn't bother me. Skimpiness does. Many females pay attention to style and sense of fashion. So if you have a nice armor and just cut out the crotch area and tights, it may attract a male, but is otherwise completely senseless and not aesthetically pleasing anymore. It just looks like they forgot to put on their trousers.
This makes me really sad because skimpiness for its own sake ruins some good designs.

I'd also like a tag that you just can hide it in the search. Saves much time.

It could simply be that a lot of the ladies around simply didn't answer the survey. Many people just come for the mods, and may not pay attention to the news, so may not have seen it.

All the front page female mods are only annoying to me because they are not balanced by front page male mods. Fix that and it might help the situation.

Interesting... if you add up the percentages, you end up with 101% for Gender, and for Age, both. There must be some funky rounding going on there somewhere.

Well, considering majority of most popular titles featuring brutal males with weapons (guns or swords) killing as a main goal (like in 90% of video games) making dumb sexist jokes on the go, or female character as main protagonist in waaaay too skimpy looks attracting young horny males...

Fightning, racing, building or sports don't usually attract females, that's why SIMS is n1 on fem gaming list, which is sad, really...

That's the gaming industry today.

My only concern about any nude mods, male or female, is the amount of kids that play this game, and come here looking for mods. For the sake of not getting sued, you'd think the "adult" mods would only be visible behind a account creation. I know people lie all the time about ages on the internet, but at least if they HAVE to sign up to see naked elves, you have some defense if a suin' happens.

A better idea might be a more extended survey (as in, over a longer period of time), in order to catch people with a wider range of schedules. At least a week would be needed to get a broader picture of things, and even then, this being Summer, the percentage of those still of school age is likely to be skewed higher.

If the only idea of the survey was demographics, I am sure there is some way for those in charge to access statistics on what percentage of account holders have declared themselves to be what gender, or what age in their profile (as well as those that decline to state). The site also tracks when an account holder was last active, and whether they have posted any mods, so if they wanted to limit the results to only currently active members, or only mod authors, that could be done as well. I would be curious to see those broader statistics myself. But I believe the actual point of the survey was to get opinions of what the site is doing right and wrong, and what users in general thought should be improved, and how. The demographic information on the respondees was, I think, provided more as an interesting aside then as the intended results of the survey.

Nude doesn't bother me. Skimpiness does. Many females pay attention to style and sense of fashion. So if you have a nice armor and just cut out the crotch area and tights, it may attract a male, but is otherwise completely senseless and not aesthetically pleasing anymore. It just looks like they forgot to put on their trousers.
This makes me really sad because skimpiness for its own sake ruins some good designs.

I'd also like a tag that you just can hide it in the search. Saves much time.

So basically 1-33 pages of this post are full of women who are surprised and more than a little annoyed that the survey only picked up such a small percentage of us.

 

Sounds like we need another survey. Perhaps an annual survey so that members are aware when the survey takes place and don't miss it or leave the survey open longer? Or perhaps the actual statistics based on the profile data we've elected to share about our sex, would be more illuminating (though there's a lot of people who claim one sex on their profile that don't actually belong to that gender, such a tricky subject lately to be sure and a lot of people who don't put their gender on their profiles at all).
