Are you not supposed to use DAModder to install some mods?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I just noticed that after using DAModder to install Dialogue Tweaks the corresponding folders didn't show up where they're supposed to, and so I tried using DA updater to do it, and they did. So I'm wondering, are there some mods that you are not supposed to be installing using DAModder?

Thanks!

Dialogue Tweaks isn't a complicated install. It just gets placed in the "[player's profile]\addins" folder, that's it. Not sure why DAM would have had a problem with that, but that's what's supposed to happen with DT.

You can do it manually, or use DAUpdater if DAM isn't working correctly for you.

Actually, there is a type of mod that you can't install via DA Modder. .Override type mods have to be installed via DA ModManager (DAMM).

Tho I know that's not the problem that you're having. I'm just mentioning it for reference.

Pertinent question- are you running the STEAM version of the Game or the Ultimate Edition of the game? Those have some slightly different file structures to them, that makes a lot of mod installations have to be done manually, or corrected manually after doing an install thru a mod manager.

Yes, I am running the Ultimate Edition of the game (non-Steam).

That right there may be some of the problem that you're having then. As I said, the folder structures are a bit different. Tho I'm going to have to wait til Thandal or another member replies, as I'm afraid I'm not familiar with which folders are different :(

I can say that with the UE (retail disc install) the only folder location difference is that the "official" DLC gets put in a newly created "\addins" folder under:

"\Program Files [(x86)]\Dragon Age", rather than under: "\[player's profile]\BioWare\Dragon Age".

All my other ".dazip" mods (including DT) that used to be co-located with the DLC are still in that original "\addins" folder, and work just fine.

But for a Steam install? I'm not 100% on the changes to the folder structure there... Sorry.
