davidlallen
I don't understand what you mean by linking a navmesh to an NPC. Navmesh just tells the game what are the legal places that any NPC or companion can walk through, so they don't try to climb unclimbable walls or similar. It is not specific to any individual NPC or companion. What effect are you trying to achieve?
kagstrom2100
ok, so if i just lay out NavMesh in a corridor and put a NPC there he will walk where i have marked? without linking?
davidlallen
I still don't understand what you mean by linking as related to navmeshes. Maybe you are referring to patrol packages which use the "linked reference" to chain together multiple markers. This is a total guess about what you mean. Suppose you have a patrol package which has two markers chained together. If you have not put navmesh in the path between the two markers, the NPC will not walk there, so the package will not execute. If you have put navmesh, you don't have to do anything additional; the patrol package will execute, and the NPC will walk. Please describe more about what you mean. kagstrom2100
ok, lets forget all i said and rethink it. I have a NPC witch i want to use/follow a NavMesh Marked area do i have to link the NPC to the NavMesh marked area in some way to enable him to walk within the marked area? davidlallen
I recommend you read about packages for NPCs at geck.bethsoft.com. A wander or sandbox package will allow the NPC to go anywhere there is navmesh within a certain radius, say 512 or 1024 units from a center point. A patrol package will allow you to set up markers to make an NPC patrol from one marker to the next in a certain order. Neither of these is "linked" to navmesh. Floatsup
This is a fairly good tutorial from the elderscrolls. I think if you did a basic travel package that would work just fine. You just need 2 or 3 X markers for NPC to follow if its just a hallway. of course depending how long the hallway is. http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Basic_NPC_Patrols_Tutorial Good luck hope it helped.
