The gold bird

In the garden I came to walk,

To gaze and smile at the blooming flock.

When all at once I approached a birch,

And atop its branch the gold bird did perch.

I admired its voice, as soft as strings,

Its musical hum my heart does sting.

Its feathers as golden as a soft daffodil,

The joy if its presence myself shall fill.

And when it dives into the air,

All the world I have lost to care.

I sit and I watch as it dances about,

Waiting, oh waiting, for the spring to sprout.

But when the winter shall begin to crawl,

And when the leaves shall start to fall…

I will sit and watch that birch,

For one day soon the gold bird shall perch.

Dedicated to my good friend, who inspired me to write this...

Very good!!! I just love it when a friend or someone inspires poetry, it always seems to be that much better. Keep it up Keanumoreira.

This is certainly your best poem I've ever read... it made me shed a tear of joy. :)

Thanks Swedish, that's very kind of you.
