UmbranXepher
Greetings everyone, and thank you for looking into my thread. I'm rather new to the modding community; most of the games I have played in the past have been on consoles and only recently have I picked up Dragon Age Ultimate Edition for the PC. It's been fun: a great game with good story that stays enjoyable for a good long while. What I began to notice, however, was that I just couldn't quite get my character to look the way I really wanted them to. That's when I found out about this nexus site and found some absolutely wonderful mods that make the game *so* much more aesthetically pleasing! Hair designs, armors, weapons, eye colors, so many aesthetic mods look so fantastic and make the character I'm playing feel so much more unique and creative. Anyway, to get more to the point of why I made this thread: I was hoping some experienced modders could offer me a little insight into how and what they use in order to make some of these amazing mods. Currently I have the Underworld Armory ( http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1533 ) and Underworld Retex ( http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1564 ) mods which I absolutely love the design of, but would like if I could recolor a few parts of it to fit more with my character. Anyone who could offer me a little insight and some tips for how to get started with modding will be greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time - Xepher
DarkeWolf
http://social.bioware.com/11689/blog/1120/If you want to do it via the toolset. Dunno much about it other than thats what can get you started. http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1390if you want to do it in-game. Tho it's not compatible with all mods. And I think you need to be patched up to 1.03 or maybe 1.04 for it to work correctly. Hope this helps :)
UmbranXepher
Thanks very much for the reply! I've had some free time on my hands lately and some of the mods I've found here have made Dragon Age *soo* much more enjoyable, so I've been wanting to see if I could learn to make my own mods! ^_^ Those seem like great ways to get started, thanks for linking them to me! =D
DarkeWolf
Not a problem at all! And if you want to take a look into some tutes for modding in general, the toolset wiki is a good source of information. http://social.bioware.com/wiki/datoolset/index.php/TutorialsAs for armor, weapons, making hair and stuff like that, I'm afraid that I dont have ANY experience really with 3d modeling. So I'm afraid that I can't be much help there. But we do have some forums that are dedicated to the 3d programs that are used for that, as well as for the graphics progs that are used to do textures and whatnot. Definitely wish you good luck in your endeavors. Maybe we'll see some of your work in the mods section sometime :) -DW
