vdgamer
Hey guys im new to DAO modding and I was just wondering are custom model armors like in oblivion a possibility for dragon age origins ? all ive seen is retextures or original armors, is it because custom model armors require custom body models like HG EyeCandy Body for Oblivion? DarkeWolf
Heyas vdgamer :) Welcome to the nexus :)Yeah, its possible to do. Tho the DA game engine makes it a royal pain in the butt. I'm no 3d modeler, so I can't really give you a whole lot of information on what all it entails, but I can lead you to a tute page. http://social.bioware.com/wiki/datoolset/index.php/Tutorials#Custom_content_tutorialsMy understanding of it is, is that armors are a REAL chore to get work right. Rigging and animations are a real chore fromo what I understand. (Which is very little, I'm afraid). Sorry that I couldnt be more help. but I figured that you at least deserved an answer to your question ;) If you get started into this, you will notice REAL FAST that modding for DA is abolutely nothing like modding Oblivion. Oblivion is a cakewalk in comparison.
vdgamer
Thats too bad i guess that DA wont ever be modded as heavily as Oblivion then, its disappointing since DA at least in my eyes is more engaging/interesting game then Oblivion
Thandal
DW is correct, it's a REAL chore. Since in DA the armour and clothing aren't "worn" over a body model, they replace that part of the body model, the modder has to build a seperate piece for each gender and race. SEVEN in all, to be equippable by every NPC.

It probably won't be.I know that there's a couple of modders that are working on some oblivion to DAO conversions, but they're having a really rough time of getting them to work correctly. :( I was doing to say that the release of DA2 may also have an effect on how many mods are released for the original game. But I'm seeing a lot of people saying that they don't like the sequel, so that one is up in the air
