Well, I have deleted anything Oblivion related and reinstalled, three times. so now when I start the game and it gets to the main loading screen it crashes. Here's some pics of my Oblivion folder :

Taken from my orginial post at Official Forums :

Me :

Well, this is defiantly a big problem. I installed the latest Oblivion patch, v.1.1 Final, but when I started up the game I opened my inventory, my armor/ingredients, all my stuff had no titles whatsoever. I checked my skills and spells, same thing happened. I tried making a new character, same thing. I have no mods running at all.

Why is this happening?

Admin :

Did the patch seem to install without any issues or did you force close it at the end if it seemed to be doing nothing?

Sometimes it takes a very very long time to "finish up".

Me :

It said Oblivion Successfully Updated and I clicked ok and it closed.

EDIT : Found out the problem, it was a GUI mod I had downloaded. I just had to deactivate it.

[censored] [censored] muncher, it did it again.

Admin :

You know, before I edited I asked if you had any mods because sometimes they add XML files that can mess things up, but I smacked my head for not reading carefully enough because there in the first post it very clearly said I have no mods running at all..

Rename any subfolders you have in /Oblivion/Data/ *except* these three, and see if it helps: Music, Shaders, Video. Any other subfolders, especially named menu, stick a "2" or something on the end of the folder name, ie /meshes2/

Even if a mod is deactivated it can still leave behind files that mess things up. Rename also any file named "archiveinvalidation.txt"

Me :

Oh thanks, but, I have tried re-installing Oblivion twice to rid myself of the GUI mod I had. I have removed OMOD and made sure all of my oblivion files were gone. I also deleted them out of my Recycle Bin. I reinstalled the game but now when it reaches the game start-up load screen it crashes! I have no idea what is causing this but I will try what you suggested.

Edit : I tried what you suggested but it didn't work.

Edit #2 : I'm doing a full Oblivion manual deletion. Deleting every trace of anything Oblivion related. Then removing using control panel then trying to reinstall again.

Be sure to remove the files that Oblivion placed in your Documents and Settings\My Documents\My Games\Oblivion folders as well. The Control Panel will not remove those and neither will Oblivion's own uninstall routine. If those files remain in place, it can sometimes screw up a re-installation of the game.

There's also a problem with "orphans" that get left behind in the system Registry. They can also interfere with re-installations.
