Hey guys,

I'm about to start working on a new-start mod as a side project, and because you guys are obviously the audience I'm making it for, I would appreciate it if you filled in the quick poll I've got set up above.

But, before you start I just want to say a few quick things.

  1. For the first question, if you want, you can pick more than one answer.
  2. I will most likely make a few different locations, and they will be set up as a series, meaning they'll be released as separate mods.
  3. Please, leave a comment, f you have any other suggestions.

Thanks, and I hope to get working soon. :)

I'd like as many options as possible/compatible because I love making new characters. I particularly liked the burning options. That would probably be really hard for a first time player, but for those of us who have done the tutorial thing many times, Please try to preserve the main quest as an option at the end if possible. There are some alternative start mods I would use except they break it.

I'd also like to see a mod that forces you to end up in the tutorial cell, and another where you are one of the Blades escorting the Emperor through the tunnels.

Sounds interesting, I might actually use the blade idea. :)

For the "Blade" idea, you'd have to create an alternative dungeon where you pass with the Emperor, Baurus, and Glenroy, then reconnect with the original at the point where the prisoner rejoins you. You could, of course, have the prisoner (a npc) get killed at the assassination point, leaving just you and Baurus ... and he suggests using the dead prisoner's clothes to escape in as the blade armor is too conspicuous. With careful planning you'd end up with a similar haul of items compared with the tutorial, and a totally different route to the sewers. The game picks up on how you are playing your character (light/heavy/stealth/spell) so you should be able to suitably equip the npc prisoner.

Alternatively you could have taken along non-descript clothing for yourself and the Emperor as a disguise once free, and have to change plans when the Emperor gets assassinated - then you have no prisoner and an empty cell. What would be more fun in that case is to have that wise-ass in the opposite sell annoy Glenroy or Baurus enough that they go in and hit him a few times :)

Maybe a civilian advisor to the Emperor might be better - that way you can't be expected to already have blade/heavy armor skills - making it more of a learning experience. Maybe a mage helps with a magic disguise - "Now remember, you won't just LOOK like an Orc - you'll BE an Orc - and I have no idea what that'll do to your brain but you'll probably have to relearn almost every skill you have" - gives you a reason for the race generation menu and birthsign stuff. Also allows you to drop in lines like "You'll have to try the lock - these gauntlets stop me being able to do fine work" and "Can you fry that pesky thing with a fireball - I can't cast a spell from inside this tin can"

In the poll I voted for one specific city, but having the choice of WHICH city would be good in the mod, rather than just one. Start in the relevant player owned house of course for compatibility.
