InsurrectionAlpha Posted August 10, 2015 Author Share Posted August 10, 2015 I've tried adding custom sounds to weapons in my little personal project. No dice. The sounds never play. I don't suppose I need to convert the sound to a specific format/bitrate? Also, I tried loading the weapon model in GECK after tinkering with it in NifSkope (adding nodes for projectile and trigger and whatnot and setting where the right hand grips the weapon, not sure I need much more than that considering I'm going with the Recharger ammo option), but all I got was a red shape with an exclamation point. Trial and error, I know, but any suggestions to fix that and make the weapon (Sangheili Plasma Carbine) load properly in GECK? --IA Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Moraelin Posted August 11, 2015 Share Posted August 11, 2015 Well, I'd try disabling and reenabling the archive invalidation. Sometimes it actually helps. Probably only Odin knows why. That said, that does bring us to the next point: NifSkope is a LOT more... live-and-let-live about rendering those meshes than the actual game. There are things that will render just fine in NifSkope that will crash the game like it's been pollaxed, the instant you even look in their general direction. Or with NVAC on, they might render half-way or not at all. Be VERY nitpicky about the tree structure, because the game is. It has to be EXACTLY like in some item that works. There is no 'good enough'. Operative word is: exactly. But, hmm, if it doesn't recognize the mesh AT ALL, I suspect there might be something off at the root level. Did you make sure the tree on the left side in NifSkope starts with a BSFadeNode as root? I seem to recall that exporting gives you a different node or such. I follow a more old-timey way of exporting and importing, myself, so that doesn't happen, but on the whole it's only an improvement in the same way as driving an ox cart never runs out of gas :p Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If you don't have permissions for the file I'm not sure if you can send it, so better to err on teh side of caution and skip that option.
