Cannot decide between MOD MANAGERS!?

For the basics -- either works. DAM can handle ".zip" files without having to rename them to ".dazip", but DAMM is the only one that can handle an ".override" file. So... it's up to you.

Thanks for the reply. Whats an '.override' file? I've seen the mod "Natural bodies all in one" (it was one of the most popular mods of all time) and it says you need to override something blah blah...

I dont get it. :(

.override is a proprietary file type for DAMM. Its a file type made specifically to work with that particular program. Nothing else is compatible with .override files.

An override file is a file that contains several different choices that you can tell the program to use. For example... NBAIO that you mentioned. It allows you to change different body styles, and different textures, without having to install a bunch of different mods. And then lets you pick and choose which one(s) you want to use in the configuration options.

I use DAMM mostly. Because it allows you to toggle your active mods on and off. Which is VERY helpful when you create a new character, to keep the scripts bug from not letting your mod-related gear from showing up on that character.

Tho it's personal preference.

Alright, thanks!

But what if I decide to use NBAIO with the DAModder? Will it work?

Can DAModder install any and all mods?

Because, in my head, I already plan to install at least 10 mods.

No prob!

No. NBIAO uses .override files. Those are proprietary to DAMM. no other program can use them.

DAMM can install .dazip .zip and .override files. DAM can install files that are .dazip and .zip.

IF the file that you download is in a .rar or .7z file, you're going to have to extract them from that file. Using a program like winrar or 7zip or peazip first. They should then have either a .dazip .override or whatever file inside. If not, then you can just zip up the contents inside into a .zip file and install it with DAM.

Thanks for the help!

I've downloaded DAMM but I still have no idea how to use it.

Lets say I want to install a mod called Better Sex Scenes - Zesty (yes i need some good sex in my game, apart from the combat =D) and want to use DAMM to install it. How do I do this? The manual is making even more confused rather than helping.

Thanks again for your help, DarkeWolf!

Lurker- yes, the manual is very confusing. Forget about the manual.

For DAMM- here's the short version-

If it's a .dazip file, simply open the folder that you downloaded or extracted the .dazip file to, and then drag and drop it into the Installed Dazip's pane of the DAMM program and then let it go to work.

If it's a .override file, drop it into the Installed Override's pane of DAMM and let it go to work. Once installed, the name of the mod should appear in the appropriate pane of the DAMM. You can then right click on the mod name for options. Or, in the case of overrides, configuration options.

And for correction to an earlier statement, DAMM cannot handle .zip files. Those have to be renamed to .dazip extension.

If you need more help with overrides, heres an article that I wrote a while back. Its for the NBAIO mod but the premise is all still the same. http://www.dragonagenexus.com/articles/article.php?id=38

Not a problem, glad to help out when I can :)

Also, neither DAMM, nor DAM, nor DAUpdater will help with mods like BSC. Ones that you "just place in your \override folder" aren't "installed" at all. They work simply because they're in the folder that the game looks in for just that kind of thing. And therefore they will (as the name implies) override any vanilla game element they are designed to replace.

If you examine what's inside the BSC folder (any flavour) you'll see a series of files that already exist in the game. (But Lechar's are a bit... different in content. )

You might also want to check out this article: "Using DA Mods for Dummies". It has lots of good general information.
