Alycus
The lighting draw distance in my game has become very poor for some reason. Prior to installing mods I could still see lights at long distances (the main one being New Vegas lighted up at night). But after messing around with some graphics mods, I can only see bright lights when I get very close - New Vegas now looks like a ghost town from afar. And disabling the mods does not remove the problem. The mods in my load order: http://img218.imageshack.us/f/modloadorder.jpg/ Screenshot. Note that because of the PNG format it is slightly brightened from its original BMP. http://img801.imageshack.us/f/screenshot12e.png/ Also note the Gunrunners sign popping up when I move forward a bit: http://img269.imageshack.us/f/screenshot13v.png/ I must be doing something wrong, but I can't figure it out. drakeelvin
When you run NV from Steam and get the main menu, you can go to options and change distance factors. There is also the Preferences file(s) for the game which IIRC there are two you might need to update one in the game directory and one in the documents directory. But I also think some recent game update changed things because I have noticed that things are not showing up nearly as soon as they used to, and I have all my distances in the options set at maximum. In fact just yesterday I stumbled into the "void" in Goodsprings where the terrain graphics were obviously not updating -- they were all blurry -- and I stepped into that area and fell into the game engine and landed in a pool of radioactive water. This has been a recent phenomena, within the last week I'd guess. Would sure be nice if on that NV main menu they added an option with the change history and included the dates as well. Alycus
Bump. I can't find anything related to this problem. Of all the glitches the game has, "New Vegas not lighting up" seems to be the least common.
Alycus
Bump again. I have disabled mods left and right and the city still looks like it's out of power from far away, or even when I'm standing in front of the Strip's North Gate. I have checked through FNVEdit and I find no conflicts or problems in the Lights or Lighting Template sections. I have tempered with the graphics settings and they do not change anything either. And I am disturbed by the absolute lack of info about this problem on Google, the first search result being this very topic and the rest being totally irrelevant. Alycus
You know, I'm going to bump this topic over and over until I get a suggestion on how to fix it or I decide to reinstall. EDIT: I have reinstalled and the city still doesn't light up even with zero mods. EDIT 2: Finally resolved. All I had to do was delete the ini settings in My Documents, so the whole thing regenerates, and now New Vegas is glowing proudly in the distance again. Who the hell knew...and it turns out, it's none other than HDR. Edited March 14, 2011 by Alycus
