Merging Mods

I've read quite a bit on merging mods into single esp's or esm's other than with the bashed patch. I already have TES4 Edit. Here are my mods.

 

A shortlist of mods I intend to merge are

 

Roleplaying Dialogues.esp, Poisonmachine.esp, ambient town sounds.esp, the loo, gardening.esp, smite of the order.esp, teach spell.esp, midas magic.esp, pilgrim spells.esp, Telekinetic mastery.esp, 24HrArenaAlive V2, bladesfaction mod.esp, Temple of Nirn, BHC_expanded.esp, extinguish the lights.esp, get wet.esp, Capes and Cloaks.esp, Try before you buy.esp, Walk to Oblivion OBSE.esp and AFK_prayer Idles.esp

 

I do not intend to merge them all into just 1 esp but into multiple (spells into 1 esp, sounds into another e.t.c) and have about 5 or 6 esp's with merged mods. Are there any other mods I could merge and are the ones shortlisted okay for merging. I'm aware of possible conflicts but I don't have any mods that rely on the ones listed above

I just want to know if they are safe to merge

TES4Gecko is the best program for completely merging multiple mods into one .esp. For highly specialized manual partial merging, the CS is the best tool, but you have to really know what you are doing.

Your mod list looks so much like mine it's frightening.

 

You should be able to safely merge all the esp's that start with Book-. Also merge Citadel Door Fix into the UOP. Merge Exterior Actors and Dungeon Actors Have Torches into one esp. What else... BHC Expanded can be merged into the book mod esp too, so can Cliff's Better Letters. And you can totally remove za_bankmod from the list; that mod is included with Better Cities.

 

The one major mod in your list that I don't use is Midas Magic, but from what I've heard that is a fairly complicated mod and I wouldn't try to merge it. The best mods for merging are ones that add some items to the game and don't touch NPCs or scripts, or the ones that change something very small and specific without touching a wide variety of other things. You can usually also merge a mod's modules into the main mod. I don't use the Bathing mod anymore (used to) but I would bet you can probably merge all the BathingMod esps into one. Check the readme and make sure it doesn't specifically tell you not to do that, otherwise it's fine.

 

Generally, whenever I need to merge stuff I always pull out the esps that I want to merge, stash them away in a new folder, create a merge and try it out, and if it doesn't work out I just put the original mods back and try merging something else.

Thanks for the info. With all these great mods, its a shame Oblivion only supports only 255. I hope Bethesda find a way to make Skyrim support something close to 500 or more esp's, while keeping the game in a considerably stable state. Or at least a lot less prone to crashing. Maybe a nice feature where it starts and asks you which mods you want to deactivate, informing you that the game is more likely to crash but will not necessarily crash.

I have noticed you seem to be only using Immersive Interiors - Lights Addon.esp

 

You need that AND the main mod to work. However you can merge Immersive Interiors.esp and the lights addon together without issues.

I might edit those mods later as I only checked to see if the game would crash. It didn't. I might need to remove the Book Jackets or Loading Screen AddOns if they don't work.

(My next objective: Figure out how to remove the 0 fatigue effect from "The Amulet of Soul" since I use realistic fatigue)
