DarkeWolf
Edriano- Your description looks pretty good. There's a couple of things tho.I just checked out his/her mod page. 1) go to his/her mod page and click on the permissions tab. http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1055Modification permission You must get permission from me before you are allowed to modify my files to improve it This stipulation does include the .uti files. So you would need to have his/her permission to release alterations to the stats of any of the items that were included in their mod. Or if those rings were included in the mod. This condition also makes it so that you cannot grant permission to others to re-release mods that include your work, because your's is based off of his/hers. S/He would be the only one that can grant that kind of permission. 2) If you're planning on including the actual glove models, Those are custom made content. you need their permission for That. Otherwise it's considered by the site to be theft of modder assets. Which can be a ban offense. See, this situation is a lot like the one when I created and uploaded my Improved Sophia Dryden mod. Which was based off of a preset morph created by LisaBanas in her The Elegant Morrigan mod.Because it was based off her work, I had to have her permission to release mine. I had to credit her as the author of the work mine was based off of. And I could not give permission for others to use, or modify MY work, without them having HER permission. Because she was the original creator of it, not I.So to completely avoid a potential conflict on that last matter, I simply did not give permission for others to use it in other mods or to release modified versions, out of respect for LisaBanas. Using other people's work for a base is ENTIRELY ok for home/personal use mods. The permission issue only comes into play when you want to release those mods to the public. Its a case where the site doesn't really care what you do in your own home, but when you bring it here to the nexus, that's when we have to get involved. I hope this is clear enough to understand. If you have any questions about it, PLEASE let me know ;)
Thandal
@DarkeWolf; Your explanation of permissions and using other's work in yours is excellent. Especially becaue you give a concrete example using your Sophia Dryden morph!I'm bookmarking this thread. (Perhaps there's a wiki article in there somewhere? )
edriano
Well, perhaps I should have mention this. FYI, there is no rings on mordsith mods, basically I madea new rings using datools presets , mods the stats thengave the name 'MordSith Ring (Denna)' For the glove, I also use datools presets glove and tints etc, then named it 'MordSith glove'. Does that need her / his permission? Edited March 15, 2011 by edriano
DarkeWolf
If they are something that you created completely on your own, then of course you wouldnt need anybody else's permission. But you would probably want to specify that you weren't using anything that was related to the mord sith mod that I'd linked to above ;)
edriano
Thank you for clearing that out DarkeWolf, I was worried he /she mightown exclusive rights or something to the name 'MordSith' which prevent me or any other moders to named their 'not using any of the original modsbut use the preset provided by datools' item(s) with MordSith. Regards Edhriano. ps. Thank You again DarkeWolf you have been a great help! And sorry for all the trouble. ps. again I have uploaded the file, would you do the honor? http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2209 Edited March 15, 2011 by edriano
DarkeWolf
Edriano :)No problem at all, and thanks very much for your patience with me thinking that you were working with items that were included in the mordsith mod. I'm sorry about that. But yeah, if you've completely made the items yourself, there's no problem there at all. The name... "Mord-Sith" is actually from a TV show "Legend of the Seeker". A modder can't claim that as their own ;)So yeah, as long as you specify that those items aren't related to the other modder's work, there won't be any problems ;) Glad to be able to help out, tho again... I am sorry that I misunderstood where the items were coming from.
