devinpatterson
Oops that last paragraph should read; The have to be original (***can't*** be edited versions of oblivion assets as those are copyright), but I suspect there is a treasure trove of them just waiting to be found
Moraelin
The boomers also use VR to train their piloting skill. Supposedly even that lore keeper kid already shot like over two hundred enemy fighters. And that's right in the current game, so nobody can complain about lore. That one fits perfectly into teh military sims since Nellis is a air force base. I do think the four categories will allow for a fair amount of VR worlds, although I wouldn't mind some TCs for some very unusual campaigns. Especially if it's a campaign with a lot of it's own original, detailed lore, and doesn't seem like it could have evolved from fallout's pre-war america psyche. Deadlands seems like it might fit that bill as well as gammaworld. Probably a ton of others. I would be interesting if the Bethesda ruins in FO3 had a office for a little company called Bethesda Softworks, and this little company was working on a new game called the elder scrolls.... ObieDwyer
Proper VR implementation for Fallout is nigh impossible.incorrect I say VR implementation as in like free-moving hands and such. Perhaps it's possible but I would think it would take a whole lot of work just to get a messy product. @.@ you thinking to literal! Think FO3 Anchorage etc using the VR pods etc that are in game XD. Good Luck,Geoff Oh wow I actually forgot about those VR pods. I was thinking of Oculus and such. A VR mod would be hella however. So I'd be happy to assist in any way that I can. EDIT: Should we get some kind of team together on this? I can do quite a bit with the GECK although my mapping skills (especially outdoor areas) are lacking. However I could just easily copy the layouts from DnD dungeon modules :V Edited August 24, 2015 by Cdr248
devinpatterson
Sorry for the late post, last few days have been busy. Thanks brother, I'd appreciate any help. I have some good news re: assets and I'll list some objectives/goals, as soon as I have time to make a coherent post.
ObieDwyer
One idea I can think of that can be done with vanilla assets is to make a remake or reimagining of Nosferatu: Wrath of Malachi. The game is fairly simple, takes place in a castle/mansion and has enemies/weapons that are very similar to that of Fallout's. And since it takes place in a victorian era with vampires it fits well enough for a VR theme. Regardless, I'd love to join in on this.
devinpatterson
So the good news is that Lazarus89 has granted permission for use of his assets. One of his mods has open permissions, and has some nice weapons and armor that are original meshes. His second mod, The Dungeons of Ivellon, has an original dungeon tile set. While existing FONV tile sets can be edited, I think these new sets are going to go a long way for a fantasy/medieval VR. Example pic; http://static-8.nexusmods.com/15/mods/101/images/13714-2-1193737925.jpg I also think there are additional tile sets that can be created from edited FONV assets. I could see a Dwarven/Dwemer tile sets made from some of the vault sets, by changing the wall textures to stone, but keeping the pipes and what have you as steamworks. One idea I can think of that can be done with vanilla assets is to make a remake or reimagining of Nosferatu: Wrath of Malachi. I think most VRs will be determined by the assets we have available. Do you see that setting (victorian) as being something we can provide enough assets for a complete environment? The game is fairly simple, takes place in a castle/mansion and has enemies/weapons that are very similar to that of Fallout's. And since it takes place in a victorian era with vampires it fits well enough for a VR theme. OK I'll check it out Regardless, I'd love to join in on this. Would love to have the help. If you havn't already listed them in teh OWB thread, could you give me an idea of your skill set and what areas you like working in?
ObieDwyer
I'm more of a jack-of-all-trades kind of guy when it comes to the GECK. I've mostly been doing some basic scripting work here and there so I can handle quests. And of course I'm able to do some basic things like making NPCs and items and such. I can probably do some level design, not the actual designing of levels maybe but I can slap tilesets around easily. If there's anything I don't know I tend to learn it fairly quickly. The only thing I can't do is asset creation. I've done 3dsmax/nifskope edits here and there but I've never straight up modeled something from scratch.
