paool3107
So I've been playing an early access game called Exanima recently, and I what I like most about it is the health and armor system. If you are hit with a weak or bludgeoning weapon (i.e. a club or a mace) then you lose health, but it will slowly recover. Cutting or piercing weapons however (swords, knives etc.) will deal damage that you can't recover from without a healing item or magic. Armor reduces damage by a bit, but more importantly it turns a certain amount of "cutting" damage into "bludgeoning" damage. This represents something like a chainmail shirt preventing a sword swing from cutting into you, but still getting hurt from the impact. This is my favourite depiction of "realistic" health and armor in a game and I really would love to have it added to Skyrim. And since I know that rule #1 for mod suggestions is "make it yourself," does anyone know: 1) Is there already a mod like this out there? If not... 2) Is it possible to mod Skyrim's health and armor system in this way? if so... 3) Are there any tutorials specifically for changing the health bar and other UI stuff? mate1146
This HP/def system looks like the most realistic it could get. Ever. Would be great to implement!
Redoneter593
That sort of injury healing mechanic is in monster hunter 3, where if you took damage from any source a large portion (60-80%) of the damage taken could be healed naturally as long as you didn't take any more damage before you healed to the point that you had taken the minimal damage amount. This would be indicated by a red section of your health bar which as normally green. If you received damage before the red part had slowly but surely turned green the game would consider you to have only as much health as was green. This meant that if you were wounded you would want to wait for it to heal naturally before using a healing item or it would simply heal you from the green area and not the red. This would be for a bit more hardcore and bit less casual type of gameplay and would probably require at least some scripting.
