shunshundedun
Seems to me lately, as in the past two to three months the amount of quality mods has stopped being released. Oblivion mods still has that one or two ambitious looking mod every month but Fallout 3 has come to a halt. Is it the modders got bored? Perhaps the Fallout 3 environment makes it too difficult to create imaginative mods? Fallout 3 is suppose to be a newer game than Oblivion but the mods for it are dying out. buddah
In general modders mod for their own reasons, when New Vegas was released....many migrated to the new game.
Javalin
I think people just wanted to mod something different. Let's be honest, Fallout 3 didn't really have much to do. Sure, you could do a lot of exploring, but in the end that would just get very boring. I hear that New Vegas had a fresh lead of quest lines, and is much more difficult than Fallout 3 too. There are also many many more tagged files aswell for New Vegas. As for me, I'm contemplating on thinking whether it is worth getting New Vegas. I've heard quite a lot of terrible things about it, which has kinda put me off :P For me, the most ambitious mods are probably these ones: (No Particular Order) Beware of Girl - Finger of God (I just wish the sound was a little different though) extremely detailed.Tenpenny Suite (How it should have been)Advanced Recon - Great mod, slightly thermal is slightly overpowered though :P Makes things so easyProject Beauty - Let's face it, the game was in need of it, and it delivered quite nicely I might add.Fellout - Ultra Realistic, although by 8pm it's pitch black (in the summer too) Edit: That was quick.. Didn't notice he was banned til just :D Shame, he was only here for a few hours
rickerhk
@javalinI've still got big plans for my FO3 mod. I've got thousands of lines of script for all the things it does. I think there is plenty to do in FO3 with all the added mods. I'm also working on something for NV. I think months from now, FO3 and NV will be worked pretty much equally amongst modders. 7thsealord
Yeah, a number of modders have gone on to FONV. I think also it is a case of things basically plateauing out. There are a LOT of mods now (plus a few very promising ones coming Real Soon Now), so there is less scope for all-new stuff. How many retexs of the landscape, or Body Types, or 'new look' items are there? A lot. Not giving up - the FO3 mods are still coming in, just not as many as there used to be. invalidfate
Since 90% of mods can be easiley ported between FO3 and FNV in a miniute (just need to change master dependence and esp version number) or miniutes (for scripted ones, they might need to be recompile in GECK if involving FOSE/NVSE), modding in FO3/FNV is not that different, except quest mods, of course. I am new to the modding, and in the very beginnig, I played FO3 until lv17, but later I just transfer to FNV since I found Mojave is more suitable for riding the motorcycle. (I port the J3XMotorcycle mod with 90% rewritten... riding with all your companions is fun). I just started my modding career since switching to FNV, and the mods I'vd published in FNV will also be ported back to FO3 later since I do not finish my FO3 story yet. mm... mods with new stuff? Eventually, following mod will come to FNV/FO3.....in future (I don't know the actual date..but it will be...at least in my FOMM) 1.Moonshadow Race ported from TES4People just wonder why the actor in FO3 never be so beautiful as one in TES4? because no one create custom head mesh and facegen stuff in FO3 (Throttlekitty had done this in TES4). I just port some beautiful custom race from TES4.http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/images/39399-1-1297876347.jpg ====ALL of those below are STILL WIP, and not be able to share with anyone since they NOW may DESTROY you game play in various ways...bugs..bugs..)2.Ridable HorseMainly, the EULA prevents me from publishing. In order to bypass that, I guess I need to write a converting program that merges the animation and skeleton from TES4, so the mod will contains no TES4 VANILLA resources, only the convert program, but the biggest problem is my laziness.....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqbW1TJkeRw 3.Dual SMGs (or other guns...)In the very beginning, I do this for fun, but this seems solving the hanging problem which repeats several times in every Fallout forum. Still.. I just lack of passion to re-animate tons of vanilla animations...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GmHWzo2HOY Edited March 23, 2011 by invalidfate
CoreXion
I think that the mods might be slowing down in releases for the same reason that everyone else has been saying, but they are not dying out, not just yet at least. There are a lot of things that can and could still be done with Fallout 3. Currently I am working on my own mod for Fallout 3 that I won't go into details about other then to say that it is a large one that started from a small one that I started. I'll have details on the mod later next month perhaps along with some screen shots of work that I am doing.
Nadin
I'm working on a large mod for Fo3. God only knows when or even if it'll be released, but....yeah. I think that they'll come back to Fo3. Not all of them. Probably not even most. But probably enough to keep things alive, if only for a while.
