Help. No seriously... Help.

Recommended Posts

I've been away from FNV for awhile. Its life, school family and job. Anyway I loaded up Vegas today and the damn thing is WAY outta whack. I had to disable every mod and even then my music won't work. For some reason even though I disabled the mods I still have the death claw gauntlet. My pipboy is invisible. I'm guessing it was because of the new patch for the DLC.

Any help?

This FAQ seems to offer the rather bland advice that the oldest files are loaded first and, moreover, that it is the FalloutNV.esm file that must always load first. I think this is important because if it loads after a modified master file, it will overwrite some of the changes made by that master file.

The FAQ neglects to mention the fact that because the FalloutNV.esm file is subject to periodic updates, it won't always be the oldest file, in which case it won't always load first - and therein lies a possible explanation for why Bethesda updates have occasionally knocked savegames and mods off their perches in the past. The program people use to fix this problem when it periodically strikes is the "Fallout Mod Manager" or FOMM:

There is no guarantee that this will fix your problem, just a strong possibility. I've found Fallout: New Vegas a bit touchy in this respect, and I usually keep a written list of mods I'm running because it doesn't always load a savegame successfully if a dependent mod is not present. However, I have found that using FOMM to fix the load order generally dispells the update blues.

I hope this helps...
