Fallout 3 Archive Invalidation with Mod Organizer

Recommended Posts

I have been working on getting my current FO3 install working. I am using Mod Organizer for only a little while, I believe I have gotten everything working except Archive Invalidation. I have automatic Archive Invalidation checked in the proflie manager, but it is not recognizing it or something.

Windows 7 64-bit and it's installed to a folder on the desktop

Start over hun that is Defiantly not the place to install any game. No way, no how.

User Account controlled Real estate.

DRIVE....C:\games...etc.. not recommended.

Drive D:\Games or any other place "Recommended."

not there, nothing installs there...ever.

I would need a detailed lay out of your system, I am puzzled as to why or what prompted you to "custom install" the game to the desktop?

Other than defaults built into the games setup program...I am hesitant here...How did this happen?

First what do you mean "a detailed layout of my system"? Is this what you mean: (see attachments)

Second, I installed it to my desktop because Program Files is write protected and I would have had to run all my applications in admin mode.

Make a Directory on C:\ called Games

open it in a new windows

the folder shown in your current screen shot here..." Copy " all files from it into the folder C:\games.

the folder that contains Fose there? delete that from the new games folder, from the source on the desk top, open the fose folder, Again, ...copy...all it's files into C:\games...just like that.

Remove Fake Full screen from the game directory and put it any where but there.

Delete from C:\games the folder "...Mod Organizer..." and copy from the desktop source " mod organizer' Folder directly to C:\

so it reads C:\Mod Organizer....

now, you should have a full game sitting on C:\Games "fallout3's data" ...Your game..successfully moved but not moved in terms.

In any windows operating system, when you select the term "Move" ? it moves them, it also move with them permissions attributes you can not see, and then when you go to access these files, you'll find them all locked...why ?

With permissions belong to UAC..the desktop belongs to UAC as do all folder controlled By windows systems.

If you copy..." ...COPY..." the files ?,....then these attributes "permissions" are removed from said files and the locks are unlocked.

all files that are on that desktop are user domain...specific to the user so logged on to that system's profile...as is this profile here on the nexus....you can not access my profile for the very same reason...user Domain. when you log off the nexus? can you download files larger than 2 meg's?

No, you can't..why ? because you need to be logged on on to the system, your credentials are username Just like your PC windows program "User name" and a password IF used..here is required, there may not be...but as admin if so made that way are locked into that desktop like your locked into your account here...you can not share your info here with others due to how it works, so .like here, there on your PC, you can not share with others that the system provides your desktop data unless you tell it too. It is user Domain, every file, every byte, every folder.

copied files are just copies...Moved files are shared files...If sharing is turned off on the system...then locks will show up on all files so designated by the current logged on user......

you copy your files..and are Duplicating your files "elsewhere" so you can recover your game.

you ask me a question of this nature, your going to get a thorough and complete answer.

You try to Move your files, your done. start over because all rights to them will be locked out From you. They currently belong to that desktop.

when you have completed all of these steps. you can delete the desktop installations and links.

in windows directory, there is a folder named "prefetch" in there are prelaunch*.pf files with this games assets listed. those you delete ,only the game names or files related to what ever the game was used. nothing else.

Go to C:\games, right click the main executable and launcher and send to desktop as link.

close the window...now run the games launcher...It needs to NOT say it wants to install the game..if it does say this? run install as I can see you have the retail disc already loaded up there in your screen shot.

installer will again try to install the game to C:\Program Files And Folders...Do not do that. choose custom and direct it to C:\games.

Boom done, your game is now registered again, all saved games should work if you backed them up...if you do not take precautions? then it's all done, you start over .

That's as simple as I can make it here.

First what do you mean "a detailed layout of my system"? Is this what you mean: (see attachments)

yes, that's what i meant.
