Fatalmasterpiece
Hey guys I am wondering if anyone can give me some tips. I'm planning on putting together a mobile DAW, mostly for doing live music samples with an external USB audio interface. A laptop seems best for this but I like to build my own systems and buying something from Dell or similar companies is out of the question. Do any companies currently offer modular laptops with no os pre-installed? Failing that I am considering trying a micro atx system or possibly rack mounted system. However I am not too familiar with either and as far as I know rack mounted systems are generally for server set ups, but would be excellent for what I have in mind. Thanks. Malchus
Failing that I am considering trying a micro atx system or possibly rack mounted system. A friend of mine runs recording studio/live band setups and uses all digital mixing/sampling through a custom built computer in this case. It's rock solid and rack mount. Takes a standard ATX board. May be just what you want.
Fatalmasterpiece
Cool beans thanks. I've been building pcs for years but rackmounting is all new to me. Seems like it is probably the best way to go. Will be interesting finding a way to mount the LCD. I think though I will definitely want to keep it down to 3 or even 2 rack spaces if I can... With that in mind and a little off topic, anyone know any cool music visualization software?
