Mrbrickmaniac
I downloaded a series of mods, with winzip, and placed them in my bioware/dragonage/packages/core/override.... but i dont think they are activating in game. Are they supposed to go in documents or under program files, in computer?
Mrbrickmaniac
As well this seems like it would all be easier if i had the doa mod manager, which i have attempted to download, but everytime i try to start it, it says that it has stopped working. Any ideas?
Thandal
Need a lot more info in order to help you. You mention "WinZip", but did you extract the mods after you downloaded them? Which mods are you trying to get working? Not every mod goes in that location. Only certain ones. Others need to be elsewhere. Depends on the mod. Did you read the article here: "Using DA Mods for Dummies", so that you understand the different kinds of mods and how they each have to be handled? DarkeWolf
modmanagers, make sure that you're on an account that has administrator privileges. right click on the .exe file for the modmanager and choose {i]Run as Administrator[/i]. If it's DA ModManager (DAMM) and you're running on a windows 7 box, you may also have to right click on it and find the option for running it in windows vista compatibility mode. (google it if you can't find it, but should be a tab that reads Compatibility). Tho I gotta wonder the same thing that Thandal is. Are you extracting the contents of the .zip .rar or .7z files before trying to install them?NONE of the DA software will read .zip .rar or .7z. Only .dazip. If they're not extracted, that would also be why the DAupdater.exe is crashing. It can't read the files if they aren't extracted.
Mrbrickmaniac
Yes I am extracting them, as well as reading the readme.txt that usually comes with them, and from what I have read I have done it correctly. Some mention that I need only extract to the override folder without installing, while other sources tell me that I need to install. As for more information, I extract the files to the indicated folder, some appear in a proper format of DAZIP. Others appear as folders with no contents or files that appear to still need unzipping. Basically it will not let me install these. They all appear to be the same type of file. And yes I have read the tutorial you suggested http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Using_Dragon_Age_Mods_for_Dummies, although I am still having some trouble. Thandal
It would really help if you would give the names of the specific mods you're having problems with. A general list the symptoms that you're experiencing doesn't allow us to diagnose the causes or point you toward any cures.
Mrbrickmaniac
Thats a good point, I am sorry, still fairly new to this. I did some fiddling of my own and was able to implement the majority of the mods that i downloaded. Some mods resulted in errors when i tried to download them, specifically, castle cousland, the max inventory, and extra dog slot. As well as many of the extra content modules. Other than those, I believe i have everything else figured out. Heres a error message for example... C;\Users\User\AppData\Local\Temp\Armor_of_the_Black_Fox_v2_1-793.dazip Application not found

Is that "in-game", or when you are trying to install EDS?
Mrbrickmaniac
When I am downloading mods, i dont have the game open or running, so no in game errors. After I download the mod, and it finishes it immediatly gives me a error message. So I dont even have a chance to open and extract files. I tried extracting the files directly from the downloads menu but that doesnt seem to work either.
Thandal
It looks as if when you get the Windows download dialogue options, you are choosing "Open" or "Run" instead of "Save". Tha's the only way you would be getting an error message immediately after the download finishes. None of mods here can be "Run" directly. All must be saved, most must be extracted for some form of file compression archive, and the extracted file then placed in a location that the game will recognize and be able to use.
