OK, are you clicking it in the game launcher or are you clicking the file in the Oblivion data folder? Also which mod is it? You enable them by clicking the checkbox in the launcher, not in the folder, if you were doing that.

If you have either Vista or Win7 installing to the default location causes problems with mods. Oblivion was made before Vista and does not take UAC into account. Best solution. reinstall the game outside of the default program files location. My preference is C:\Games\Oblivion. If you are using the steam version, you must move the steam client outside of these locations.

Do this first - before starting to try anything else as it fixes about 80% of the games with this problem.

Here is a link to my complete uninstall/reinstall procedure located in the articles section of the Nexus

http://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=240

It allows you to preserve any saves and mods, or remove them completely - your choice.

Once you have gotten out of the Microsoft UAC trap, try installing the mods again.

Most mods require the latest patch.

Many mods require OBSE to work - read the documentation for that mod to see if it does.

Other recommended tools for working with mods OBMM & BOSS
