McclaudEagle
Hi. I've been seeing a bunch weird lighting issues when placed on new terrain. It's really annoying because one minute is looks bad, the next it looks good. Image: Lighting Error Anyone know a fix? Thanks.
davidlallen
Perhaps it is clear to you because you know what you want, but it isn't clear to me: what is wrong? It looks like you have placed one light, and the majority of the scene is dark. Have you placed other lights which are having no effect? Did you expect this one light to have a different effect? McclaudEagle
Just behind the flagpole is a fire barrel. The problem is that it's creating a solid line between darkness and light rather than a smooth blend.
davidlallen
Sorry ... in the screenshot the fire barrel is blocked by the flagpole, so I cannot see it. Is it against the sandbag (in which case the light appears correct, the sharp light edge is caused by the sandbag) or against the far wall (in which case I guess it is incorrect)? McclaudEagle
The line where the arrows point to in the image below should not be there, it should be smooth: Light Error
RealmEleven
I can see the line you're talking about. Can you let us know if this line just happens to coincide with a cell boundary? The reason I ask is that there is some odd behaviour along cell boundaries and it is worth being aware of these things. Thanks in advance... McclaudEagle
It appears that it is a cell boundary that's causing the problem. Know of a way to fix it? Thanks
Quetzlsacatanango
Move your settlement a little ways in the direction of the arrows?
GrindedStone
You could delete the light too.If I see that light I'm just going to come over there an shoot you an steal all the ham out of your fridge.
RealmEleven
It appears that it is a cell boundary that's causing the problem. Know of a way to fix it? Thanks Well, my way of fixing it is not pretty, but there are a number of light objects that are nothing but ambient light with a radius. In the GECK they look like giant light-globes. Duplicate one of these and rename it so that it sorts with your other objects, and then adjust the colour to match the lighting effect given off by the barrel. The next step is to position the light across the cell line so that it lights the region that you wanted to match. To achieve the desired effect, it is likely that you will need to: adjust the intensity/radius use more than oneDistribute the lights so they are not too close to visible objects that may cast an odd reflection If you have a script controlling when the barrel is and isn't lit, don't forget to set the new lights to Persistent and assign a Reference Editor ID and have the script enable and disable them with the daily lighting and dowsing of the barrel. I hope this helps...
