Oblivion in Windows 8.1

Hi, I thought it would be interesting to share my Oblivion gaming experiences. There has been a lot of forum discussion about using BOSS/LOOT/WYRE BASH etc to maintain game stability when modding.

I am running on 8.1, adding all mods via NMM 0.55.8. I have a Compaq desk top with integrated graphics! I currently have 158 active mods running with almost zero CTD's during extended play.

I've maxed all in game settings and used the Tweak guide also. i used to use BOSS but have had more stability when just adding mods by NMM and not "forcing load orders" with BOSS.

The game is running at 1680*1050 on a 2.5Ghz dual core AMD.

i do defrag/optimise my HDD daily (even though I have optimised the memory usage etc.)

Hopefully, this info may give gamers some incentives to experiment themselves on their own less than "top of the range" computers.

It is a bit time consuming to achieve, but i thoroughly enjoy Oblivion on my setup.

My only concern is whether to risk upgrading to Windows 10 as I had a few problems getting Oblivion to run well on 8.

Thanks for the "views" so far. Just an addendum, my CPU is actually a dual core Intel Pentium G645T.I have disabled all "save" options and do save at critical times. I have also seen some forum advice which suggests completely exiting Oblivion during long sessions and restarting from OBSE loader icon. This clears the game and helps maintain stability and CTD's.

Following on from my initial post over a year agi I can provide a follow up. I currently have 195 active mods installed (mostly directly through NMM 056.1), i do suffer from occasional "lag" ingame and very infrequent freezes. Freezes often occur on cell changes ie fast travel or cell changes. After a game restart the previous freeze resolves.

I have used TESIV Edit for all my mods and am now relying on NMM to sort the load order after installing new mods.

I am continuing to use Windows 8.1 nd am very happy with this OS and my current desktop, as far as playing Oblivion is concerned.
