Simple Armor Edit

I was wondering if there was a guide somewhere out there for doing really simple armor edits. All I want to do, for instance, is delete the pauldrons and guantlets from the dark seducer reward. Is it possible to download one program, open up the nif file, and delete at will?

NifScope? You click the piece, and if its seperate, you can delete it. If it's not, then you'd need to go into a 3D editing program and select the vertices and delete them.

 

By seperate, I mean the whole armor doesn't light up, just that one part. (Example: The MJOLNIR Spartan armor from the Spartan Project, its all one piece. If I were to delete it, then nothing would remain. Example 2: The Legion armor from Oblivion. You can delete the pauldrons, armor piece, skirt thing, its all seperate.)
