BHWolf
After several hundred hours of play I drifted away from Oblivion; neither Knights of the Nine or the impending expnasion could quite draw me back. After learning about the Damarask mod I decided that it would be an interesting plot line to have the Shivering Isles expansion follow on from so I updated my Francesco, etc. Whilst checking out what was new I thought I would download Knights of the Nine and the Spell Tomes since it would only cost me $11 as oppose to £20 for the disk; I already have installed the other "Officials". This is when I ran into problems, neither of the plug-ins would install. Remembering that there could be issues in the past I disabled my firewall and virus scan which always worked in the past and tried again; no success. Researching further I detect a distinct encouragement to people to buy the retail version or the D2D version. Am I being paranoid or has Bethesda been tinkering with things to improve the profit margin? Got no problems with being told I'm wrong. :)
Tiberiu911
Do you have the most recent OB patch installed? KotN and Spell Tomes require the new patch.

Fair comment, but yes and to doubly ensure I downloaded it again today. in fact all of the plug-ins now require the new patch.
Mithrandir8
Have you messed with any of the original files installed in oblivion? When I was first changing my files so that I could take pictures, I opened up one of the wrong files and my game wouldn't load again. I had to reinstal the game to fix the problem  . It could be this or you may have a problem with an unofficial mod. I found a couple that were incapatible with my game. Try turning off all the mods on your game and seeing if it still runs, then turn each mod on one by one to figure out which one is causing the problem. May not work, but it is worth a try. BHWolf
Thanks for the suggestion, but have tried disabling all mods with no success; as for the original files.... like many mine have been so heavily tweaked it is impossible to keep track of. Strangely enough when I installed the D2D version, there was no problem and both official mods have now been installed; which leads us back to the original albeit cynical question..... Thanks again, though Regards
Tiberiu911
What is the version number of your oblivion.exe file? Sometimes, mainly because of a DVD crack, the updater will not update it, leaving you with the old version. D2D uses legal "no-dvds", which could mean that your exe might of been updated, thanks to the D2D updater. If you bought Oblivion via D2D, this could be the answer to your question.
