Can't add S.H.I.V. as a unit to my team

Didn't find a bug report subforum and it's not mod support, so I post this as "technical issue" due to lack of alternatives.

Enemy within, long war. I built a SHIV in the first month, but when it was finished and I was going on a mission, I can only select human soldiers in the screen, the SHIVs don't show up there. I've never had a SHIV before, but I assume they must show up in the team selection when you "add a unit" before going on a mission, right?

I built a second SHIV, same problem. Now I have invested resources into 2, but can't add them to missions. Can't find any way to decomission them either (in which Tab do I see them?).

Thanks for help

IIRC the SHIV is a "foundry project". Once the foundry has completed it, you have to buy the SHIV like any other weapon in Engineering. Sounds like you missed this step unless that is what you mean by "built". Once purchased it should appear in the barracks to be selected instead of a soldier. You may need to scroll among the available soldiers (I can't recall) in the slot where you want it loaded. If that is not happening, then you may have an actual bug.

LW makes equipping each SHIV an individual option so they can each have different weapons, assuming the SHIV weapons have been researched. See the UFOPedia LW section.

Standard LW boilerplate follows:

Long War bug reports should be posted in the appropriate Beta Feedback thread in the "Long War" download page "forum section" for a quick response. (The LW Team has stated they don't check the main forum at all anymore for problems. Really, the dev team is the most likely to be able to help with a LW issue but anyone else who can also will be there.) You may also find that the answer is already known and posted in that section.

Be sure to read the "Readme" and "Detailed Troubleshooting" documents included with the LW download before reporting bugs. They need all the information requested there (including which platform) to be able to help. If they can't reproduce the problem, they can't fix it. You increase your odds of getting help by re-reading included documentation and following instructions on reporting bugs, and then documenting what you have already tried ... in detail. Short "it's broke" reports simply generate requests for more detail; wasting time. Better too much detail than not enough.
