kangxi
I recently bought the Steam GotY edition of Morrowind and put it on my d drive. I then installed v3 of the overhaul which included the Morrowind Code Patch v2.0. I was advised on one of the Steam boards that i should then d/l & run v2.1 of the code patch, because it's improved & with more choices. After unzipping the 2.1 package I renamed the original code patch .exe to "(MGSO) Morrowind Code Patch.exe" and put the new v2.1 .exe file into the Morrowind directory. I put the Morrowind Code Patch Showcase.esp file into the data files folder and the mcpatch folder into the Morrowind folder. I ran the 'old' executable to deinstall all the chosen patches. But when I ran the new patch executable the program said it was still v2.0 and the extra choices (eg removing the 100 cap on skills & attributes) aren't shown. I got the v2.1 from Nexus - is it possible it's still sending out a mislabelled v2.0? It's more likely I've done something wrong though, so a pointer wd be v helpful.TIA. Daemonjax
Not sure what the problem is, but the latest version of MCP is 2.
wretchedfetcher
Not sure what the problem is, but the latest version of MCP is 2.2 Officially 2.1 is the latest, and 2.2 is beta. Very reliable though, I haven't run into any problems with it yet. ...After unzipping the 2.1 package I renamed the original code patch .exe to "(MGSO) Morrowind Code Patch.exe" and put the new v2.1 .exe file into the Morrowind directory. I put ... the mcpatch folder into the Morrowind folder. I ran the 'old' executable to deinstall all the chosen patches. But when I ran the new patch executable the program said it was still v2.0. According to the documentation, you should first use Uninstall button in your current MCP, and only then extract the zip on top of the existing files to update to the new version. I suggest that you first copy your Morrowind.exe (ideally it should be the one you haven't patched yet) and put it into different folder (in case of any mistakes). Then run Morrowind Code Patch.exe, press "uninstall all". Then unzip a fresh copy of v. 2.1 into Morrowind folder overwriting everything; then run Morrowind Code Patch.exe again, select options you want and press "install". I don't understand why are you keeping two code patch .exe files, is that needed for MGSO to work? (Sadly I have no experience with it.) Anyway, if you think it is mislabelling issue (I don't), you can check MCP version number in the bottom left corner of the main menu ingame (where there are options to start a new game, load, etc.) Edited August 27, 2015 by wretchedfetcher
kangxi
Well, I'm very pleased to finally say it's all installed & working after I did a clean de- & re-installation of everything. Your comments were all very helpful in sorting at all out. With my new-found confidence in knowing about what file should be where I might even tackle upgrading MCP to 2.2 - tks for the info.Regards,Kangxi
