simplywayne90
Hi Everyone, Read the guidelines before posting please. --------------------Suggested Guidelines For Posting Ideas Here-------------------- I'm putting these here to avoid useless posts, So that way people can actually post interesting and inspiring ideas without 500 copies of "I want a Legion companion" as an entire post in between, So when you post please try to follow this example so that people will actually care to read because it will then be interesting. NameAppearanceBackstory (Very important, don't post if your character is supposed to just sudden appear and help the courier)How do you meet them?, how do they fight?, and what factions they'd like, etc. And then random ideas like Quests for them, Dialog, Banter, Companion Perk ideas, etc. Here is a starter entry in the format I described. Now mine is a bit more detailed since Cassidy was an actual companion with a lot of character and is even mentioned in New Vegas already. ----------------------------John Cassidy---------------------------- He prefers just "Cassidy" however http://i54.tinypic.com/a9pumt.jpg Cassidy is an older man somewhere around 50-60 so he's not really wrinkled but you can tell he's old. His body and face are covered in scars from travelling the wastes including a dead eye. He's got a metal plate in his head as well and is bald, usually likes to wear leather or combat armor, but he did learn how to use power armor while in the wastes. "Cassidy is Cass' missing Father and was also a companion in Fallout 2 back when the NCR was starting up about 30 years ago, He hated the town of Vault City and travelled with the protagonist of Fallout 2 and kicked a lot of Enclave ass including setting off a nuclear bomb and virus in thier Headquarters. Afterwards he had Cass' and mysteriously disappeared into the wastes." (Backstories are important becuase it leaves rooms for cool stories, reasons why they like certain factions, etc.)Theres more to Cassidy's story but I'm only putting that there as an example for you readers. Cassidy is a crack shot, He's a jack-of-all trades, hand him a weapon and he can use it, He also doesn't mind using hand-to-hand weapons like Brass knuckles to "Tap dance on faces." Just like Cass, Cassidy would likely be out for himself but always believe in doing right, so while he may be happy with the NCR, he still perfers them to people like House. He hates slavery and drugs however so the Legion and Fiends would be a killed on sight and he wouldn't be very kind towards the Khans, and he's not a big fan of people thinking they're better than someone else so he'd think that New Vegas was full of assholes. The rest is on the Cassidy thread, but I think I've shown how it should be done, I mean this example is likely a bit long for most but try to get your idea to be like this so that people will want to read about it. simplywayne90
----------------------------Eve---------------------------- Her name (and personality) come from Elvis Presley's 1966 song " " "I'm lonely like Adam, you're evil like Eve" http://www.newvegasnexus.com/imageshare/images/1234539-1300886927.pngI used Hayatoshi's Havestar photo to better illustrate how Eve would look like except Eve has dark hair. Eve is a black haired beauty, with a soul just as dark. She's not a raider or ugly, she's likely one of the only post-war women to learn about make-up and how to look good as well as manipulate, because she learned from a young age that beauty and evil best go hand and hand. She usually wears her own combat armor which she got from killing a female officer who wasn't paying enough attention to a certain shadow, She's made her own "adjustments" to the armor since to make it feel more like it's unique to her. Eve has a past, she just won't tell it to anyone she doesn't trust and so far she doesn't trust anyone. Eve is from back west like the NCR but thats all they have in common, she was educated thanks to an old computer in some ruins she'd lived in for years, She has always known kindness, but also knows that behind every kind word someone speaks, there is a selfish motivation behind it. Shes travelled to the Mojave to find the one people she feels are truely honest with thier intentions and that are as dark and spiteful as she is. Eve's a sadist, but shes not vocal about it like raider women are, but it shows in her perfered ways of fighting people. She enjoys sneaking up on people and as she calls it "watching the lights go out." Of course she's smart enough to realize that melee combat is not the best choice in most situations, so she can use pistols and rifles, when she uses guns she likes scopes as well since it makes her feel like shes right in front of them as they fall. I haven't thought up how she and the Courier met up yet to be honest except she'd have to join them early in the gameplay since Eve is supposed to have trust issues and developing trust takes more that 5 minutes of voiceless dialog, I'll edit it in later if people like her. After her and the player meet which would be early in the game, She will join them after asking a lot of differing questions, players' answers will decide if she joins or not. Afterwards you go on about your normal playthrough with her as your companion, and during certain vanilla quests she'll give dialog and opinions and developes more character. Eventually after maybe 5-6 "important" quests (Ones that affect reputation and karma more than others.) She'll have opened up enough for the player to guess she's wanting to see and possibly become a part of the Legion since shes always been lied to and she feels the Legion is a truely honest (but evil) group. I've got more to write but I'll wait until readers ask for more since I've already posted a lot more than I thought I would, so if you liked Eve ask or comment about it and I'll post more about her. AveTruetoCaesar
I mentioned this idea in my Itara Grand Arcade and The Gamers topic. This companion is the member of the Strip family known as the Gamers. James (AKA The Angry Itara Nerd): James is a possible companion. He is one Angry motherf***er, and has quite a mouth on him. He's the champion of all the games at The Arcade, with his highest score being 200,000 on the game Mega Antonio Siblings. The reason James is so angry is because he and his best friend were jumped by two NCR Rangers hyped on Psycho. They beat the s*** out of James, and murdered his friend. And now, the Nerd wants Payback. He is involved in the Companion Quest "Die You Motherf*#@ing piece of Dog Turd". He gives you the perk "...and down it with Beer" which multiplies the affects given by beer by 2, and takes away the chance of getting addicted. He is armed with 3 unique weapons, which can be taken: The Power Glove (Unique Displacer Glove), the Zapper (unique Recharger Pistol) and the Super Scope (Unique Gauss Rifle). He is a reference to The Angry Video Game Nerd
METAo0oLURGIST
NameNiké (pron. 'Nicky', inherent reference to the Greek: Νίκη, "Goddess of Victory") Physical ConstructFemale, Caucasian, build short ~5'5" stocky, slightly muscular but not unattractive; attractive yet plain face; very short, slightly curly light and dull brassy color hair; Preferred Outerwear: Olive Drab webbing and militaria, to the tune of OG coveralls, ala 'wasteland doctor outfit' or 'combat armor' & Elitist military wears similar to Enclave officer outfits or de-junked trader outfit. Headgear, much the same;like a non-rigid M1951 patrol cap, enclave cap or beret. Pretty much anything military referencing a Real World look of post WWII cold war U.S. along the lines of paratroops and special forces 1950-1970 but OG/OD because camo isn't already in fallout and I'm not a fan of it. I LOVE that the NCR adapted khaki rather than some form of camo. Custom, or 'default' outfit might be organized around a Special Forces junior officer uniform or paratrooper stick combat webbing that would fit into backstory, along the lines of a unique M1 steel helmet or unique beret, perhaps a better looking patrol cap than the enclave or trader models. Backstory Niké would be the product between two of NCR's military elite with different career paths who was raised to be a Wunderkind among the core of the Republic's force tacticians in her father's life. After specializing in various enhanced strike developmental units concerned with quick insertion commando raids and infiltration, she found her skills AND her dissatisfaction with NCR politics growing, especially the one sided view of events she was being fed. With the ability to disappear and move invisibly, she left her life behind her to wander the wastes and discover what was really beyond the academy walls and briefing rooms. She's not exactly 'anti' NCR, although she will hide and refuse to approach concentrations of them or their populations. She just feels her life is on pause until she is more satisfied with knowing more sides to a bigger story. How do you meet them?, how do they fight?, and what factions they'd like, etc.I see Niké appearing out of nowhere, similar to a random occurrence, as the PC is suddenly swarmed by gunslinger, jackals, raiders, etc. nasties and Niké appears out of the other side of the fracas to assist in mopping up. This should probably happen along the route of tracking Benny along the southeast highway north to Vegas, just exiting the canyons to the flats before the city proper. Thus giving the PC time to choose them as a companion, with perhaps a companion story quest to lodge her with the boomers or some other like tribe until/and/or/when the player decides she should/should not join them. I see her using default weapons of the grenade launcher and light machine gun, but only to the effectiveness of a normal person with normal gear, trained to be very useful with them. She should grant a slight bonus to sneaking, firearms and perception, and be a mobile reloading bench similar to Veronica's workbench, but with easier access to abilities and recipes for reloading. She would have a preference for firearms, especially modern and repeating military-like ones. She would automatically pick up weapons from around the areas explored, if they struck her 'interest', or programmed list. She'd also offer anything she found to the PC out of 'fairness' but if left to develop a collection would supply herself and the PC with enough munitions to switch weapons and tactics if certain ammo ran out. She should be very capable in guns, survival and repair, as well as probably heavy weapons, explosives, melee and unarmed, and while she would be quick with a stimpack if the PC was seriously injured, (think: syrette) or specialized ammo if a new, higher level weapon was found, but you had no ammo for it (also difficult to find munitions, like .50 MG varieties and 25 and 40 mm grenades. Not in large quantities but enough to justify carrying the weapons. She should also be able to exchange caps with NCR dollars and back, and be able to craft nearly all weapon mods given enough ridiculous amounts of various tools, parts, scrap metal, electronics, etc. required to make it. It might be worth it for her to have a 'camp here' function where the PC can stop, protected while she 'keeps watch' and sleep like a bed, but with only %50 health improvement over damage and no 'well rested' boost. Random ideas like Quests for them, Dialog, Banter, Companion Perk ideas, etc.Not an extreme Rambo type, but 'very tactical.' Someone with a useful, humorous and very naive outlook but with a very open mind, ignorant only through lack of exposure of almost everything not related to fighting and survival; but out in the wastes to learn and experience, so not elitist. I see her being friendly and a bit dorky, useful and enjoyable to be around but clearly able to faintly flirt with either gender PC but easily assume a couch-comfortable 'buddy' relationship with the PC embracing the nomad odd-couple nature of in-game PC/Companion relationships while wandering the game. I see her being very useful for anything commando or camping related, and personality studded with miltary cadet knowledge quirks. I think it may seem her in-game benefits to be unbalanced, providing too much benefit. I think all beneficial buffs and effects be patterned after being both expanded but also limited by her military background and training, and how much that would translate to the PC's direct benefit. She would be 'on her own' but simply dumping her chips in with the PC's, so while willing to help, that isn't necessarily the main focus of her following the player around, it's to have a journey to hide out along and company along the road. She should be able, while obviously not to the Lucky 38, be able to lodge herself in various locations, (westside, northside, freeside, goodsprings, novac, or any other open, 'peaceful' community not monitored by the NCR) until the PC met up with them there. This would allow flexibility with her limiting need to avoid NCR recognition, thus being useless when in their presence. Yet, being at least quasi-NCR allied, she wouldn't side with a PC working for or aiding 'the wrong side.' This would make her as a companion excellent for long sojourns into the wastes, as she is eager to befriend every (semi-humanitarian) group, so is friendly toward most all factions, but is extremely capable in combat thus becoming the 'muscle' for those who pick a good, positive alliance in the game, as a reward for such karma, but her refusal to near or interact with NCR would suggest perhaps the Republic wasn't the 'good' side but just the least menace of several. Thus Niké would be a 'good' or at least 'neutral with a conscience' only companion, she would provide a large benefit to those players, while being limited by her curtailed travel limits. She would break off the relationship, like Boone, if/while work was being done for the NCR, but only temporarily(X amount of days since last quest completed) just to avoid being identified. simplywayne90
Intriguing thread. I wonder why it hasn't a million of posts yet. I have to think about which new companions could fit the New Vegas lore, but in the meantime there are a couple of existing companions from fo3 that could be integrated into NV: PAULSON from Mothership Zeta Hot tempered by nature, impatient to leave and not comfortable at all with the technology of the ship, he messed up with the instruments, accidentally sending a teleport probe straight into the Mojave wasteland. From there he began working as a crimson caravan's escort, but he did not realize very well that he lives now in a world centuries ahead of his time and he feels seriously out of place. Although he's known as the best gunslinger in the entire wasteland, his fellows caravaneers began to distrust him, fearing that all of the tales he tells (that he comes from a ship in the sky, and many other details about the world he lived in)are the result of heavy use of drugs and that there's not quite right with his mind.So his pride made him leave the caravans, and he's now looking for a new job as well as a place to feel comfortable in the hostile future world. -He can be recruited in the crimson caravan hq, where he thoughtfully sits alone in a corner, away from the crowd. The player must have high intelligence, charisma, and/or science skill to accept his personal story as genuine. He could ask a small amount of caps for his recruitment as a bodyguard. From time to time he asks the player about history, science, politics facts in the present world, and again high intelligence and science are required to make him understand what's around him. -Endings: He could end up as a lone wanderer, a bandit, forever looking for a place to stay if the player fails at making him accept the present world, or as a roaming legend, a legendary hero who fights injustice wherever he goes, if the player succeeds.-Factions: He doesn't side with anyone but the player, he considers the legion a group of filthy bandits but he also strongly dislikes NCR. he likes New Vegas because he's excellent at card games, if the player can convince him in handing over his revolver at the acceptance of every casino... TOSHIRO KAGO from Mothership Zeta He followed Paulson when he teleported into the Mojave wasteland, but suddenly he split up searching for his own path. (Paulson could give some info about an "oriental gentleman" he met into the ship) He ended up fighting the Legion, but although he fought with valor, he has been captured and enslaved. He is now a gladiator in the arena (not necessarily the main one, it could be another legion settlement) fighting for his own life. -The player can buy him for a considerable amount of caps (or legion currency) or he can fight him in the arena and convince him to attempt an escape together (Toshiro could have learned some english at this time) while the spectators are distracted. When recruited, the player must smoothen his high sense of honor and give him a reason to follow him through his travels. Again, high intelligence and charisma is required, and Veronica Santangelo could give some tips on how to deal with him. -Endings: He ends up performing a ritual suicide if he did not find an honorable way of living, or he can become the leader of a renewed and more honorable great khan's tribe, who takes back Bitter springs with a vengeful and blazing assault on the NCR troops.-Factions: Sides with the player only, if the player acts honorably through his quests. If a meeting with the Khans takes place while Toshiro is a companion, the Khans could show great admiration for his presence. At that time, he could be encouraged to "act as an example" for them, by showing them a more honorable way of life. (This can lead to some sub-quest) Short on ideas and enough spamming for now, but i will return on the subject. Guaranteed.
simplywayne90
In my freetime today avoiding work, I decided to write down some random thoughts for ideas for Fallout, and I came up with about 12-13 unique companion ideas that I'll try to expand. At the moment the ideas are only about a sentance long or so so I won't be posting all of them immediately, and I'll try to keep them mixed up and realistic, (like a gorgeous woman, would not travel with a courier who has a charisma of 1, or anyone who goes with you "Just because," I mean the mojave is dangerous, I wouldn't blindly trust anyone.) Anyways give me a minute or so and I'll write up the first companion idea, "A narcissistic and cunning prospector only out for himself." <--- Yes thats all I'm starting with, so it will take a moment. someguynamedjoe
What about Colonel Autumn? He could have survived the events of Fallout 3 depending on player choices, since he made no appearance whatsoever in Broken Steel. He'd also be fun for roleplay purposes, with all of the scores of Enclave mods on the Nexus.
simplywayne90
---------------------------Narcissistic Prospector--------------------------- I just couldn't think up a good name for him. So I might figure out a good tie-in to the 50's name later. Onto appearance, I imagine him looking somewhat like Andre 3000 when he filmed Idlewild, He is the man on the left in the photo. http://moviesmedia.ign.com/movies/image/article/723/723781/idlewild-20060807112335841_640w.jpgAnd heres a clip from a soundset I've recently gotten ahold of.Commenting on the smell Voice clip Actually, Forget him for now, I'll come back to this later on today. I'm tired at the moment.
