strungout
Oi all, I was creating some glasses, and found a lot of info here and there, but couldn't my one-mesh glasses to work. Either everything was opaque or everything was transparent. I had my diffuse map with an alpha channel + normal map, my black and white _em.nif file. It did work in blender render, but when I'd try to export it, blender (or the python nif script) told me it didn't know how to export that B&W material and to either delete it or map it to 'Col' in the map to tab. When I did that, the lens would be either visible or not in nifskope, no middle point when playing with the NiMaterial Alpha value. So, basically, I ended up making the model two seperate objects, the frame and the lens, using this tutorial for the lens, and then changing the texture to my B&W _em.nif in Nifskope. it made it very easy to control the transparency of just the lens. It got me the results I wanted, which is a solid frame with barely transparent black lenses. So, I'm just curious as to wether there is a specific tutorial for making it just one object, like the vanilla glasses are, instead of two? Kinda feel like I went around the wall instead of finding the door. Not gonna lose sleep over it tho.
