Long War crash by opening screen to build items

Hi folks,

 

I get a CTD whenever I am playing LW recently. Whenever I try to build an item in the workshop, I get a CTD. This is new after I developed pulse lasers.

 

Can someone help me?

Long War bug reports should be posted in the appropriate Beta Feedback thread in the "Long War" download page "forum section" for a quick response. (The LW Team has stated they don't check the main forum at all anymore for problems. Really, the dev team is the most likely to be able to help with a LW issue but anyone else who can also will be there.) You may also find that the answer is already known and posted in that section.

Be sure to read the "Readme" and "Detailed Troubleshooting" documents included with the LW download before reporting bugs. They need all the information requested there (including which platform) to be able to help. If they can't reproduce the problem, they can't fix it. You increase your odds of getting help by re-reading included documentation and following instructions on reporting bugs, and then documenting what you have already tried ... in detail. Short "it's broke" reports simply generate requests for more detail; wasting time. Better too much detail than not enough.

While the LW installer handles any code modifications for you, it is still necessary to prepare your system for mods as laid out in the wiki article "Basic Guide to installing mods". The "Environment" section in particular still applies to LW, and the "OS/X mod installation" section has specifics for Mac versions.

The first recommended fix is always to upgrade to the latest version (currently Beta 15F3). Be sure to check the release notes for the effect upon a saved game.

Long War is a great mood but crash on advanced game when try to craft regular items, opening the sceen to build items

You have Steam (and thus the game) installed in the default "C:\Program Files" folder tree. This has been know to cause problems since the game was first modded. This is particularly true of LW which also requires the separately purchased "XCOM: Enemy Within" (EW) expansion. (The errors are saying it is not finding the EW files. Do you have that?)

Yes, I have the *.exe files EW in the correct place and I was playing without any problem for a year wiht the Long War mod + XEW in Steam

but recently, since i discover the first soldier with psi habilities and trying another soldiers, the crafting window force a crash when i try to build items :(

Please note that just because things WERE working in the "Program Files" folder tree does not mean they will continue to do so. Microsoft continually tightens up the security on those "sensitive system folders" with each system update, resetting things and restricting ever more activities. Those folders are the primary attack vectors for malware, and that is an arena constantly evolving with literally thousands of variants released each month. I know no one wants to hear that they need to move Steam, but it is a fact of life and has been so since Windows Vista.

 

As the "crafting" feature is specific to LW, I'm afraid I can't help you. You should try asking on the Nexus mod technical forum

or the "Pavonis Interactive" site. Quite frankly the LW team is not going to respond if you say you have the game installed there, as it is quite emphatically stated in their instructions that LW won't work in that folder tree.
