Rita's Cafe

Am I the only one who thinks Rita's Cafe should be in New Vegas? I mean, you have billboards all across the Mojave, yet it's nowhere in game. So, I was thinking about a mod that adds it in. I've wrote a grand story about it, complete with Characters, Quests, and even a Radio-Station!

Synopsis:

Before the war, Rita's Cafe was one of the most visited places in Las Vegas outside the strip. People flocked from around the US to taste there Delicious meals. Burgers, Hot-dogs, Malts, floats and the world-famous pies! However, when the Great-War struck, it was abandoned for the next two centuries.

In 2273, a group of Families headed by Jim Manzarek traveled into the Vegas Region from the NCR to find there claim to Fortune. It was there they found Rita's Cafe, abandoned, but in perfect condition. With the exception of the paint being chipped, it had been completely untouched. They also found an entire miniature Vault under the building, containing perfectly Preserved Pre-War foods. They also found the recipes for Rita's famous dishes. When the New Vegas strip was set up, they figured it was the perfect time to open-up shop. It is now the preferred place for NCR tourists, or hungover soldiers from McCarran to eat.

Layout:

I was thinking the building should look Grand, like one of New Vegas Casino's. I was thinking the building would be white, and have multiple purple Neon-Tubes around it. The building should be similarly shaped to the Ultra-Luxe. This is how I think the interior should be layed out like this

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5309/5562489093_2c952af829.jpg

And a field full of Grazing Brahmin and Bighorners

The kitchen should have Grills. Grills would work like Campfires. As well, the Take-Out area should have 2 pristine Nuka-Cola machines. But, it it possible to make it so that every time you open it, you loose a cap, and you can only take one Nuka or else it will become stealing.

Characters:

Jim Manzarek

Jim grew up in a Vault in Seattle. The experiment in the vault was to fill it with Hippy paraphernalia and Propaganda, and see how long a group of Passive, peaceful druggies can survive in the wastes. Jim was bored his life in the Vault, so at the age of 16, he and two of his friends left. He drifted through Washington and Montana, but finally settled in the NCR, and Started a Family. However, his private Soft Drink company was failing, and he couldn't afford rent. So, he and his friends decided to pack their Families up, and head to Nevada to find a claim to fortune. When they found Rita's Cafe, he became the leader, mainly because he has the most Knowledge of finance.

Interactions with the Player:

He gives the player a job in the quest "Service with a Smile"

He is the one of the characters you need to talk to in "Somebody to Love"

He is a temporary companion in "Riders on the Storm"

She is considered quite attractive by most costumers, most of whom try to flirt with her. However, she seems to have no interest in anybody, and in fact, she seems asexual. She hosts the Rita's Cafe Radio show, where she promotes the food at Rita's cafe to those in the Mojave wasteland.

Interactions with Player

She is the center of the quest "Somebody to Love" in which the goal is to find her somebody to, well love.

The Courier can flirt with her with the Lady Killer or Cherchez La Femme perks, with mild success.

really hope that it will be done as it could be a total nice.

maybe you should make that you can also get coffee or something like that because there's not some places to get coffee in the game, or maby a quest to get coffee beans and then you get a recipe as a reward??

but Realy hope it are going to work!

I like it, it did seem odd that there wasn't any actual diner to go with the ads. Not sure if I can do anything to help with it, though.

Well, I'm just glad people are interested.

Coffee would be a good feature. I mean, you have mugs and Coffee makers all over the wasteland, yet no coffee. I'll add it!

I like the idea of integrating stuff thats already advertised on billboards!

I'm currently building a mall and intend to integrate a bar and/or a cafe, if I ever get that far I'll think of it.

I dont know if you are familliar with the geck nif files (models) but may I suggest using the 'UFO Fort' under static objects, make it realy big and accecable also get a sharp retexture so it doesnt look realy blurry. I suggest this because Ritas cafe is obviously space themed and this would fit perfect with the threme. Also you could make a childs playground out the back of the cafe using the same model as the building and the 'rocket fort' model. (Just a suggestion)

Well, I would do that, if I had any skill in the GECK beyond creating a simple Radio-Station. It's all too complex. I'm learning a little more, but I still have trouble doing basic stuff. And I can not retexture for anything!

But I do like the idea, I kinda forgot about the space theme, I figured the "Our pies are out of this world!" was a made for advertisement kinda deal.

Also, a few unique item ideas.

Rita's Cafe Uniform (Space Suit colored Purple and White, no radiation resistance, but a +5 to Survival)

Bighorn Paralyzer (Unique Cattle-Prod wielded by Stephanie)

Light my Fire (Unique Flamer used by Jim)

"IN SPACE" (Unique Recharger Pistol rewarded for the completion of Riders on the Storm)

I want this! I was so sad there was no cafe, although if they had made one, it probably would've been a rusted out dump. I like this with people and quests, and maybe a coffee recipe. It would probably make your action points go up, and SLP go up like Nuka Colas (or possibly down, since staving off sleepiness is the main point of coffee.)

I don't know enough yet to help, but please keep this project rolling!

I'd like to hear that sweet-ass '60s rock too-- would make it stand out as a place with a special atmosphere. I wonder how they would decorate the interior? A bit of a psychedelic overlay on a 50's style diner.
