Cybersqueek1
I know that there have been a bunch of questions on this and I have been sifting through them for about a week now but to no avail, so here it goes. My render window is blank. I have an nvidia 9800gt, I have updated my drivers, and I have changed the busemultibounds to 0 in the geckcustom.ini. I load a cell, in this case cisternC and am rewarded with a blank screen. Then double click on the burned book in the cell view and still no change, however, if I bring my cursor up to the render window the cursor changes as if all is normal and I can interact with the objects but the window is still blank.http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i81/lauren_dr/Clipboard03_sm.jpg Another thing that I noticed, I can go to the view drop down menu and click on the render window option and the window does not respond. if you notice on the screen shot the render option is not selected but it is still present. http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i81/lauren_dr/Clipboard01_sm.jpg Any ideas? Cybersqueek1
Come now, really? It's been a day and not even one suggestion or thought?
davidlallen
When I follow your steps, it works for me. The render window is blank when I click on 1ECisternC; when I double click on BurnedBook03 in the cell view then the render window draws the scene. When you write, " if I bring my cursor up to the render window the cursor changes as if all is normal and I can interact with the objects", do you mean that you can see the cursor change between a compass arrow and a pointer with a plus next to it? This means geck is working, but your video driver is not.
GrindedStone
um do you run it as the admin of the computer and in compatablity mode for windows XP SP3? You can see a few common vista issues at Steam support, then you could also just ask them. A multibound is a group of objects linked togeter so that if you can see one of the objects in the game then you can see all of them.
Cybersqueek1
davidlallen, yes the cursor changes as if nothing is wrong and all seems to be working fine with the exception of the blank window. I too suspect it has to do with the video drivers. GrindedStone, that was a good suggestion, I had not tried that yet. Unfortunately I just tried it to no avail. I figured it may have something to do with the video driver interaction with geck. I know that the answer is probably going to be simple but as of yet it still eludes me so please keep tossing ideas at me.
GrindedStone
load up the geck, pick wastelandNV, put 16 16 in the box an hit go... when it comes up click the sky button, click the sky button off, click the light button, click the light button off. You can also install the Fallout 3 GECK an 1.5 update, then try to use that geck an see. Try it in windowed mode. Press Shift C, but I'm not sure what that does besides making everything disapear Un-install it, an re-install it Where did you install the game? You can make stuff if you figure this out. http://i895.photobucket.com/albums/ac156/grindedstone/meshes/Geck2011-03-2703-02-03-03.jpg Edited March 29, 2011 by GrindedStone
Cybersqueek1
I'm out of things to try, I even reinstalled oblivion and fallout 3 just to try the construction set and the fallout 3 geck. They work perfectly so I can only assume that the NV Geck just doesn't like my puter. oh well

Cybersqueek1
uh it's basicly the same thing.Where did you install Steam? That is what I thought as well. Steam is installed in C:\Program Files\SteamNew vegas and the NV Geck is in C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\fallout new vegas I don't know, I'm out of ideas :wallbash:
GrindedStone
Well windows puts security risks on files in the program files folder, so most of the FO3 players started installing it to it's own file on the hard-drive. C:/Bethesda Softworks/Fallout 3 and C:/Steam. You don't have to re-install it there if you don't want too though. It's only in rare cases that it causes issues. The NV Geck is kind of shaky, it's picky an crashes more. It could be that you need some foundation software. I'd bet that more than a install outside of program files. For example Visual C++ I think Steam says to install the 32 bit an 64 bit on vista 64 bit, you better check with steam though. I use XP. So Visual C++ an .NET framework the whole family of software 1 2 3 3.5 4.0 I think. You can get these from microsoft. Also some players report that un-installing Visual C++ an then re-installing it fixes some major issues, same thing for .NET framework. Have you went to Steam support an looked at the vista/Win7 common problems? You should. It wouldn't hurt to look around for common Vista problems. There's only so much I can come up with being the owner of the last retail copy of windows XP home. Heck just keep un-installing it an installing it, it's bound to eventually work. I failed at getting blender to work on 6 seperate attempts spread across a couple of years. I kept trying.
