(There are several videos available detailing how others have done that. I agree you don't need the gold. I've never touched it once I left the Sierra Madre except to stash it away.) The "bug" discussed in this thread only happens to some people, for reasons unknown but probably due to an unspecified mod conflict. There is no "official" patch. The one affecting the elevator script listed earlier in the thread is no longer available. There are no other "unofficial" patches to do the same thing on Nexus. There really isn't anything to experience once you get into the elevator except leaving the casino and then the courtyard, which you achieved using the console. The perk given by Veronica Santangelo is "Scribe Assistant" and has nothing to do with Dead Money. You regain your companions when you leave the Abandoned BoS bunker and ask them to join you again wherever they are waiting for you. BTW: FNV uses the "Gamebryo" engine from Oblivion.
