Questions about tweaking the weapon stats in the G.E.C.K

Im looking to adjust the stats some of the weapons I carry..And Some of my questions When Adusting spread,Is alower Number better?Or a Hunter Number better when making a weapon more accurate? And second. When Adjusting the weapons the weapons range.For minimal Range is the number better to have a lower Numer? Or a higher number.Because I realized some of my weapons are unable to hit at close-Point blank Range.
