KradenEPC
Are there any mods that replace the vanilla running animation with more of a sprint-like animation? The vanilla animation isn't horrible, but it looks a bit silly once my speed starts getting high and my character is still jogging around everywhere. I've searched pretty thoroughly but I can't seem to find anything. I'd be surprised if someone hasn't made something like this yet, but if it doesn't exist, would anyone be interested in attempting it?
Genzel
I've really only seen walking animation replacers, and I think it is due to the fact that there are only two animation speeds for forward movement. Only at very high speed levels do the running animations look cheesy, and since you cannot have a third animation for a sprint speed, you either have to have bad animations for when your character is slow, or bad animations when he is fast. I have never done animations, but I assume it would be very difficult to make animations that look good at any speed. I'm sure someone could do it, but chances are you would end up with an animation that looked really bad if your speed stat was under 60.
KradenEPC
Yeah I was thinking about that too, but I think it would be easy enough to turn the mod off if your speed is low. Or maybe you can have a script that activates the animation once your speed stat reaches a certain number, or maybe once you become an expert at athletics or something. Genzel
I think DMC stylish might do something similar to that, since it can optionally work at random. I think an .ini, or scripting would allow you to change when certain animations are used instead of others. I really don't know much on the subject, though. fore
I like the idea. And it's not that hard to implement for PC and companions. Practically impossible for vanilla NPCs. From the animation point of view one could create a set of kf's with increased movement distance on the Bip01, and then reduce the speed with NifSkope by changing frequency and the endkey frame. So the character would not loose speed advantage, but simply run like in seven-league boots. Since this cannot be solved with animations only, you need to have an esp with a quest, which checks the characters stats on loading and sets the run animation accordingly with OBSE. Fortunately there is a CS Wiki article to determine the running speed. So no big deal. I think I can/will do it, BBB inclusive ;). But not right now (have another work in progress, due sometime end of April). So I won't be mad if someone else picks up.
