IAvalonI
Ok, thanks again for all the replies so far.I've been looking into it a bit more, and have found some good prices for both Graphics card and Power supply...But just to clarify, if i get both will this significantly improve my PC's performance? Here are the two I've been looking at, but could someone please tell me whether they are compatible and will fit in my case??? Sorry for my impotence in this matter... http://www.awd-it.co.uk/scripts/prodview.asp?idproduct=7195http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/xfx-pro650w-power-supply-unit-09641834-pdt.html Compatible? Will they fit? does the psu have sufficient cables etc?and also are the prices stated reasonable for these items? (Well, the video card might for some games, depending on other factors.) Mostly, you won't even notice. For that you need a new CPU, and more RAM. THAT'S what will make you go "Wow!" IAvalonI
Well yeah, but I'm not gonna replace the cpu, and after all, to increase my ram I'd need to get new OS, like windows 7 64-bit, which i don't really wanna do.. And anyway, I think what I have at the moment really isn't that bad anyway, I reckon 4 GB should be enough :)and in any case, I'm not too fussed about my 'overall' machine, I just want to be able to play oblivion with high graphics settings and at decent frame rate... Will these two changes to my system accomplish this or not? And I'd still really like to know whether they will fit before I order them? :s
Thandal
The ps will make zero difference in performance (but if it's needed in your rig to support a better graphics card, then it's required.) As many have already said, the 5770 is a solid, mid-tier card, and will be a significant improvement over your current one. It's about 18 months old now, (so not "the latest") but it's DX11 capable, and the prices have come down considerably over that time...
