Kallan
Hi guys, this is my first post, and I'm just announcing that I will be making a mod for oblivion that makes it the warhammer world. Yes, I know this is a huge task, and yes I understand it will take a long time (understatement) but I really want to do it, because I can picture it in my head and it would be a magnificent mod, and I'd love be able to play it myself, and let other people play it. At the minute I am just in the process of planning storylines, thinking about what I need to do, drawing up concept sketches, reading through warhammer lore for quest ideas etc; etc; but anyone who wants to help is welcome to. Everyne who helps will each take the credit they deserve, as I don't want any credit, I just want to be able to play it. So far one guy helping me is working on a script to make dead NPCs have skulls, but only dead ones, and then you can go to the correct shrine and offer that skull to the god Khorne (the god of blood) which will give you powers. Just as vampires in oblivion look diferent if they do not drink blood, Chaos worshipers will look different after they offer a certain amount of skulls, such as after offering 5 skulls, your skin will have a red tint, your eyes will be slightly milky, and there will be bumps on your forhead. Everntually when you have offered hundreds of skulls you will have deep red skin, pure white eyes, large black horns, cloven feet and wings, to resemble a Bloodthirster. The stats that will improve would be strength, endurance and speed, and the skills that increased would be acrobatic ( because the wings make you almost be able to fly), blunt and heavy armour. You would also gain various powers and the axe of Khorne, a powerful weapon that gives you the ablilty to regenerate health when you attack enemies. This is just one idea, another is a complete storyline to become a vampire. Well, as in the original story, it shouldn't be easy, well, it should be damn near impossible to become a vampire. First of all, the player must find the book of Nagash, which will tell them what rituals to perform to aquire the magical powers, and then the player must find the unknown entity found by Queen Neferata and create a potion to grant them the powers of a vampire, such as strength, speed, thirst for blood, hatred of sunlight and everything else, however it should be hard to find the ingredients to make this potion, so as to make it even more difficult for players to become so powerful. These are two ideas, and I am currently working on the Vampire Counts race mostly. If anyone has any ideas or support, or wants to help this mod along, then you can go to this forum for my mod: http://z6.invisionfree.com/OblivionModWarh...dex.php?act=idx ~Kallan
Abramul
Before you bother starting this, make sure you know where this stands as far as copyright goes. From your post, it seems you don't currently have a full plan as to what you're going to create, how you're going to go about it, and how you'll put the finished parts together. DO THIS FIRST! Kallan
:D Thanks for the advice, and trying to stop me jumping in too deep, but I have the basics set out in my head, it's just the fact that nobody wants me to tell them, if you'd like me to post it all in this thread then I'd be happy to, I just didn't for fear of people seeing lots of writing and not bothering to read for lack of effort. I would like to ask a question though, I have seen on various posts on this the site something about a wiki, can I please have alink or something :D thanks in advance... EDIT: Merged your posts. Please use the edit button if you want to add something to your post rather than double posting. Thanks. ^^ - Switch
Vagrant0
Given the fact that you'd need new models for creatures, and that you don't seem to have much understanding of the CS or oblivion modding in general, I would suggest starting off with something small that you can do on your own. Copywrite issues asside, you don't have seem to have much experience with modding, so while creating a whole new world is probably something you may like to do, chances are that you don't realize the amount of effort needed, or what is and is not possible with oblivion modding. Even if you have a fanatically dedicated staff, most total conversions don't work too well because of a lack of understanding how to actually do stuff, and in what order it should be done. Btw, that whole changing thing, not possible to do. Can't change race via script, can't change skintone via script. Vampirism is a hard coded effect, and cannot be duplicated or easily edited in any manner that would help you.
SickleYield
Yep. Being able to picture it in your head means nothing at all. There are lots of great fanfic writers who can do likewise and will never in a million years produce a mod. I'm not trying to be harsh, I'm just saying there's a reason why "nobody wants to hear" about your idea. It's not you personally, it's just that we're skeptical it can even be done. For that matter, I sometimes wonder if people who keep trying to come up with these massive crossover conversions HAVE tried writing fanfic - it's a much better venue for huge ideas, and copyright violation doesn't matter. I sometimes do it myself. ;)
Kallan
Well, first of all, I can use the CS, I haven't done a lot, but I can. Second of all, I have decided to do something small to get some experiance modding, but this small project will be part of the final thing. Project middenheim is basically going to involve the empire, but that's it. I am going to do as much as I can, I have blender and am currently learning to use it. I know I will need new models for creatures etc; but I will keep trying until I do it. I understand what all you guys are saying, and I appreciate your advice. I get the idea that nobody wants to help me on this site, which is fine, but if someone does want to help me then please do :P Project Middenheim will be very simple in comparison to the final thing, since the population will be 80% Human, which doesn't need much change, and also about the copyright thing, I'm not planning on selling this, so i do not personally gain from this, and also I doubt highly that a company like GW will sue, if they do then it's my problem, but they seem to be reasonable people, and if they're willing to sue me for being a dedicated fan then they can, since it's their fault, they should make this game themselves, then i wouldn't have to.
