I no longer have any eyes.

So, I was reluctant to post this as I suppose it could be construed as mod-related, but having fannied about with my data folder, installs, ticked .esps etc i've come to the conclusion that though I have many mods installed, none are causing this, but it is rather the consequence of my own inadvertent rooster-up.

Neither my character or any NPCs (not including animals) have eyes, but only two gaps showing you the inside of their head model. I have OOO 1.3 installed, and dozens of other mods, but with all of these turned off and old saves reloaded it persists, which leads me to the conclusion that somewhere along the line i've manages to spaz-up my meshes/texture folders.

Could anyone please tell me how to remedy this without a full reinstall? I've lost my disc and my setup has taken me months to perfect, and it'd be the perfect kick in the nuts to have to start from scratch.

Thanks in advance.

I have a similar problem, but with the textures (all eyes glow, even in the dark, very annoying). The same thing as you, I have OOO 1.31, and countless mods installed, turning them off showed no results.

I though about the same thing Abramul, and I am very tempted as to unpack my eyes again.

Unpack the .BSAs again.

Does this show up if you start a new game with no mods whatsoever? And have you altered your .ini?

Thanks - by unpacking the .BSAs what are you referring to, please? Besides the mod .ESPs I've only the OOO.exes, so am I right in thinking that's what you mean?

And yes, all mods turned off (bar OOO) shows no change, which is why I thought it was just a messed-up mesh/texture. I've gone back a few saves and it's happening all over, even though it only manifested two days ago.

EDIT: And no altered .ini either.

I have exactly the same issue. The only change I have made was installing some mods, and unticking them and starting a new game makes no difference. I haven't touched the ini file. I have the bsa browser but am not sure what to do to fix problems with eyes. Do I "extract all" into the data directory of oblivion?

I can't find a folder specifically labelled as eyes. I guess i can try uninstalling, reinstalling everything but that will be hours of work and if a mod causes it then the problem will just recur. It's not easy to add a mod then test unfortunately.

I had a search on BSAs but all i can find is that it's a compression method.

You will find eyes under characters. Then you should get the races, followed by an "eyes" folder. If you cant find it, just unpack the whole thing. You can always delete afterwards.

Is "Oblivion - Textures - Compressed.bsa" or "Oblivion - Meshes.bsa" the file to extract? I think it's the mesh that's missing but neither seems to be doing the job so i am not sure.

Mods don't alter the bsa files do they?

Technically no, but they do, especially if they contain an archiveinvalidation.txt (which tells the game to search in the data file instead of the .bsa's). They don't alter the contenents of the bsa's, however they alter if they are beying used or not.

In your case, the meshes are missing. Might try to unpack those.

I unpacked my texture files and copied my eye textures, but it didn't seem to work. I guess I'll try writing it down in the archive invalidation as to tell the game not to look in the .bsa's which appears to be the source of the problem. If that still doesn't work, maybe I'll create an esp directly linking the eye textures to the data folder. You could do the same with the meshes, but that's almost as bad as re-installing the game.

Use OBMM to unpack the .bsa's. It's fast and easy.

First i'll apologize for this almost necromancy, it just seemed like a better idea than starting a new thread about exactly the same thing. Like others in this thread i have had the problem with eyes being gone. I am quite sure that it must be the meshes that are the problems as three separate mods that at least deals with eyes in part all reveals blanks. I have tried seeing if it was the textures though. Extracting either of them from their .bsa yielded nothing, neither did archiveinvalidation or combining the two. The meshes i extracted are: meshes\characters\argonian\eyeleftargonian.egm, .nif and .tri and the same procedure with the meshes\character\imperial\eyelefthuman path and the right eyes of course. The textures are textures\characters\eyes\eyeargonian.dds and in alfabetical order from there to eyeorc.dds. The mods that i consider most likely to be related to this are: The latest version of Ren's Beauty Pack, Capucine's Character Expansion the version that doesn't change NPCs and CASS_Eyes_Faces_Bald_V1.1.

I don't know if this is the same, but under the influence of magic every characters eyes seem to dissappear, or at least turn glowing. The same goes for the ears. All magical weapons and armor is also glowing. Extremely annoying as it ruins the games fine weapon and armor detail. If someone could help I would appreciate it.

BTW, I used to have Oscuro Oblivion Overhaul but I removed it because it didn't work with the knightes of the nine.(?). I think that might be the problem, but I'm not sure and I don't know how to fix it. :(
