Override file

I am trying to get some mods working that require the "override" file in program files/doa/packages

however there is no override folder...

Is it a folder I have to create? Mainly im trying to get a bunch of premade faces in the character creator. the instructions require this folder and I cant find instructions as to how to make it. any help would be great, I only discovered doa mods today so at a bit of a loss.

In the program files "\[player's profile]"; the folder listed under "Packages" is the "core" folder, the "override" folder should be under that one. If there is no "override" file folder in the "Core" folder... just make a new file folder and rename it "override".

Cheers

Fixed that for ya'.

Welcome to the Nexus, swam785!

Before you get too far along, this article might help explain some things for you: "Using Dragon Age Mods for Dummies".

But regarding your specific issue;

First: With about two exceptions (that I know of...) STAY AWAY from the set of folders under "Program Files". Any mistakes as a result of messing with those can break your game so badly that a full re-install is the only way out. As a player, almost everything you'll want/need to do with mods is done in the folders under your profile here:

"\[user's documents]\Bioware\Dragon Age\Packages\core"

(A mod that really, really needs to make changes in the fundamental program files will tell you so in the description/readme, and will probably make it clear that's where you're doing things.

Another benefit of keeping out of the "\Program Files" set is that the mods will only effect the game for each player individually . Someone else on the same system can have their own set.)

Second: Unless you installed the Toolset, the "\override" folder under "\packages" is not automatically created. As Codifer explained above, just make yourself a new folder with that name.

Also, be aware that there is a big difference between mods that say "just place in your \override folder", (which is mostly what you'll be dealing with) and the special type of mod packaged as a ".override" (which only works with DAO-Modmanager.)

Happy (Modded) Gaming!

Thanks Thandal,

The request did seem a bit odd because, even with the tons of mods in my Dragon Age, I have never physically put anything in the programs/Dragon Age/packages/core/override....... but I am willing to believe seven impossible things before breakfast.

Thanks again for the correction.

Cheers
