ENB-Series Causes Game to Crash

I'm trying to mod Skyrim but after I installed enbseries, the game either crashes into a white screen that I have to Ctrl+alt+del to close or causes the entire PC to blue screen of death occasionally. I can launch the game fine, the error occurs when I load a save or create a new save. I have tried reinstalling enbseries multiple times but it still won't work. I need help :/

PC Specs:

GPU: EVGA GTX 970

RAM: G.Skill Sniper Series 4GBx2

CPU: Intel-i7 processor

Hi

Do the RealVision install without depth of field . RealVision has an installer that makes it easier for first timers.

At the first of this year I used a GTX 970 with an i7 & RealVision ran perfectly on it.

I found this helpful. http://www.nexusmods...rim/mods/50214/?

This as well. http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:ENB

Make sure you've done everything RealVision instructs - ini edits and all that. It usually shouldn't cause crashing, but it's always possible

Open up your ENBlocal.ini - Tune all the settings to your PC (especially the memory limits). If you don't know how to do this, add the amount of VRAM and system RAM you have together in MB and subtract 2048 (Note- this is an old method, but it's still a good baseline)

If that doesn't work, I'd suggest backing up your Skyrim directory (and ini/save files) somewhere else, then reinstalling vanilla Skyrim with ONLY RealVision, SKSE, etc. Contrary to what Jones said, the DOF shouldn't have anything to do with it at all. Once you've tried all that, hopefully it'll fix your issue

Switching off DoF is good for 7 to 10 FPS & puts less stress on the gpu. When I ran a 970 with the standard RealVision setup with DoF my frame rate was in the high 30s-low 40s. Removing it made my game playable for me.

Back then Nvidia drivers were stable. They are not now. Lots of people on the GeForce forums are reporting crashes on the games that stress gpus.

Skyrim with ENB is the most stressful environment of any game I have played. For example Witcher 3 on ultra at 1440 didn't even give my gpu a workout. The gpu fans were silent. With Skyrim my gpu fans sound like a train going up hill. Skyrim Performance Monitor reports that my gpu is working at 99% most of the time & I use a GTX 980 ti sc.

Right now I am afraid to update my drives even though some of the features have stopped working in the control panel. Too many people have reported that their games become unplayable after an upgrade.

You are right. DoF on its own will not crash Skyrim, but shoddy drives can.

I'm currently running two 970s in SLI on the latest drivers and have absolutely no problems with crashing (as well as only using one card outside of SLI). It's definitely not a universal issue, then. Sorry to make it seem like I was calling you out, I was just saying it shouldn't have any effect according to my experience. I've only experienced driver-related crashes in Watch Dogs (which, let's be honest, wasn't an amazingly made game anyway, so it was probably due to the game, not the drivers). I've not once had an issue with drivers or my cards in Skyrim, or any other game, under high load or no load at all. And trust me, my setup pushes those two cards to the limit.

So, if there is a known driver bug with Skyrim, reducing system draw might help. I've never had such an experience, though.

(also, sorry for the double post. I tried to edit my post, but it created a new one instead, weird)
