ecksile
I recently just went out to Gamestop and bought 17 PS2 games (or rather my girlie friend bought them for me  she spoils me  ) putting my PS2 collection of PS2 Games to 43 now. Anyways what started this was blockbuster going out business down the street from my house (I had let some friends borrow some of my games, and of course they lost them) so I figured id go see what I could find to add/replenish my collection (Ended up finding Killzone and Syphon Filter : Dark Mirror for like 8 bucks for both). Also a while back I got my car stolen which had my lap top in it and my original Armored Core and Metal Gear Solid (PSX EMU YAY!!!). This of course sparked a search to replace those games and after looking up armored core I noticed it was selling for like 80 bux on amazon which I thought was amazing. Anyways After my shopping spree yesterday and talking to one of the guys that worked there Ive noticed that some games I used to have but sold are rather hard to find now (Mainly Armored Core Series). So I've been looking at some old threads about rare games and going on ebay and looking at prices and now I'm curious if anyone knows of any rare games or games that go for ridiculous prices or are just hard to find whether for PSX or PS2 (or any other systems these are just the ones I'm looking for at the moment). I don't know too much about rareness with PSX/PS2 games as I'm just starting to collect now that prices seemed to have dropped so anyone with more knowledge please post and shed light and share your knowledge . I gotta run now but when I get back ill update with a list of my games and please tell me if any are rare. Perhaps we can even turn this into a help thread for anyone who is hunting for games but cant find them in there area/region or cant for a decent price. Since I'm gonna be hunting for prolly the next couple weekends if anyone has any games they are looking for post them up and when I go out ill see if I can find them. P.S. Anyone played Siren for the PS2? I seen it at the Gamestop but was reluctant to get it as I already had so many, and from what I assumed it doesn't have any weapons. But being a resident style gameplay (puzzles/camera angles/horrorness) fan I was curious if anyone could provide insight on the game? I would gladly go back and get it if its worth it. Thanks for reading. Back on topic/tl;dr... What is the rarest PSX/PS2 game in your PSX/PS2 collection? What rare games are you trying to get? How much did you dish out for a rare PSX/PS2 game? Thor.
Hey you think ps2 games are rare try searching for gamecube games, lol now thats a challenge and a half. Especially when they only made a view copy's of that rare game like for instants Eternal Darkness is exceptionally rare, on Ebay they have as high as 80$ cadhttp://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/woot.gif. Amazon is where to go for very rare stuff.
dthumb
Armored Core? The first one? Maybe try thrift shops or flea markets, good luck finding that one.The only rare game I can think of for the PS2 (if you live outside Japan) was the A.C.E. Another Century's Episode series, and maybe Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. For the PSX, maybe Fear Effect series?

dthumb
Project Phantasma I think it was called. I had more fun playing Master of Arena. I never found the first game ever. So I never got the Pilot upgrades.

Pyrosocial
Well the first 3 armored cores for one. A hard one that took me a while to find was Armymen RTS. Ended up being $75 new.
RitualBlack
I am not sure what makes a game "rare" for a console, but some games that seem to be pricey in my collection are:Dark Alliance 2. Not sure why, but a new copy for PS2 isn't less than $199 currently, and a used copy is like $50 still, and the fact that they stopped the series after a cliffhanger made me sooooo sad :( Dark Cloud 2 (like $70 new, $40 used)Armored Core series (Have 3, Nexus, Nine Breaker) and I regret buying nine breaker new for like $72 when it first came out because it wasn't even a real armored core game :wallbash: it was just a practice game and one to "bring in some parts into AC Nexus"Xenosaga Episode One is only worth any money if it is new  Champions Return to Arms is sorta expensive for a PS2 game :P That is about it, most of my other games are just regular old PS2 games ,unfortunately I have like 40+ other games or something for PS2, not to get into other game consoles (Xbox 360, PS3 [broken] Gamcube, NES, 64) , and do not even get me started on PC (steam has like 51 games on it, + a few CD games I havn't put on it). It really makes me think about how much money I really have wasted on games , especially since I only truly played a handful of them. I am not saying I do not like games, because I love em', but I do waste too much money on them and really need to cut back. The only game I spent a long time looking for was Dark Cloud 2 before I know about online shopping, and I check back a couple times a month for what had to be half a year before my dad found me a copy for Christmas (Thanks Dad  ) If anyone thinks that any of these games are out of the ordinary "rare" it would be cool to know, but I highly doubt that any of them are special. Some of you guys seem to have some out of the ordinary games I have never even herd of .
Thor.
What makes a game rare is when they only made a few copy's of a certain game, Eternal Darkness is a good example for gc, you can see the game go as high as 200$. example http://www.amazon.ca...04555033&sr=8-1 This game to was ahead of its time, had everything and pushed the gamecube to its limit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAkAvRcT9JA HA ha Kijiji i managed to get it for 20$. They had no idea how rare the game was. Edited May 5, 2011 by Thor.
ecksile
My last shopping spree took me on the hunt for some ps1 games and I managed to find an Original RE2 (Not the Greatest hits) and a replacement MGS and MGS:VR ALL looked like they had never been played before seriously not a single scratch on the bottom of any of the discs. I also found an old skool tekken 1 that was in a box that looked more like a cross between a cd jewel case and a DVD case This box in like perfect condition as well. I Found The bouncer and The thing also with no scratches. And the hunt before that i manged to find futurama for like 20 dollars in mint condition. I also managed to finish my PS2 collection of the Armored Cores Series (AC2/AC2AA/AC3/AC3SL/AC9B/ACNX/ACLR) Its beautiful.
