HatredsSoul
ok, so I'm kinda new at this.... and this may sound stupid but, i was following a tutorial and i did everything it said and suddenly the script wouldn't pop up. See um.... Hmm... ok, I made a Imperial Archer for a companion and everything went great until I tried to do a follow script, then when I did the script, it wouldnt show up in the script list, no matter how many times I saved it? Did i read the tutorial wrong? Or is the tutorial messed up.....? Getting kinda frustrated here..... :wallbash: Please help..... (ok overdose of smile things trying to test them out.... but seriously, can you guys help me with this? If you need more information, i can give it to you... im just not sure what to say for the moment.
stars2heaven
make sure you are saving the script as the correct type. If you want to attach it to a quest make sure the script type is set to quest. If you want it on the npc make sure it is object. If you save it as the wrong type it will not show up when you want to attach it to whatever you want to attach it to. Also, after you make the script and save it, exit out of any window that you have open that relates to what you want to attach it to. For instance, if you want to attach it to a quest close the quest window then you can open it again and it should be in the list. If you have an npc window open, then close it and open it again. The object script you made will then be available.
kingtitan
I can give you a much, much simpler fix to this issue:CM Partners BasicThis mod both adds new companions to the game world and allows you to make your own. The scripting and AI are already in place, all you have to do is make the less fine decisions of race, armor, ect.It is one of those mods that I find to be invaluable for the game. And if the tutorial you referenced is the one I am thinking of and have seen, I have found it to be very frustrating and extremely basic. I honestly can't blame you for not being able to figure it out. As far as my experience with said tutorial goes, it is fairly worthless. And if you keep running into a wall, I'll be more than happy to make a companion for you
HatredsSoul
thanks- I think i found the issue- its that I used the object script where I should have used a quest script. I'm going to switch it right now. thanks. oh, and I think the tutorial is called Simple Companion Tutorial. It DOES seem like its kinda basic.... but that's good in a way since i'm just starting out but also kinda frustrating since it doesnt say everything......
