Iridal12
Hello there, I've tried to install the dao modmanager.. unsuccessfully.I've downloaded the file; I've downloaded and installed the 7-Zip-File-Manager. When I open 7-Zip-Manager I can open the file but when I try to open the DAO-Modmanager.exe I get a message "The DAO-Modmanager isn't working anymore" but no further details are given. I've tried downloading the file a second time but I get the same result. What do I do wrong? Please help, I'm totally clueless regarding all things dealing with computer. All I can do is start the game and play but I'd so much like to make use of the great mods here. Thank you!
Thandal
Hey, Iridal12; Sorry you're having a problem. DAO-Modmanager (DAMM) doesn't really "install". You simply extract it from the .7z archive and put it anywhere. I put it in "\[user's documents]\BioWare\Dragon Age\packages\core\override". Then just double-click "DAO-Modmanager.exe" to start it. (Not sure if that what you meant when you said you tried to "open" it.) I created a desktop shortcut and use that, so it's been a long time since I went through all this. Not sure, but it's possible that it needed to be "Run as Administrator" the first time.
Iridal12
Hello Thandal, thank you for your reply. I did as suggested but I still cannot run the .exe Datei. I still receive this "the DAO-Modmanager isn't working anymore" and the system "looks for a solution" but nothing pops up?! I copied the .exe file into the bioware override folder and tried to double click as well as "rum as administrator" - same result?!? Any further suggestions, please? :(
Thandal
Well, there must be something significantly different about your rig's environment than that of the thousands of others who run it. You might verify that you have the latest version of the MS .Net Framework,.net framework 3.0 is required (under Vista and Windows 7, it is automatically installed)and you might also take a look at the actual "DAO-Modmanager Manual", and see if there's some detail that you've missed in getting things set-up. But except for the (very) few mods that are packaged as a ".override" file, there's nothing that DAMM does that can't be done either manually, through BioWare's built-in DAUpdater, or by using DAModder (DAM). So if nothing else works, I would suggest going one of those routes.
Iridal12
Dear Thandal, thanks again for your reply. I will try that though I guess it likely that sometime soon there will be questions regarding DAUpdater and DAModder in this forum.. I hate that I am so ignorant in all this stuff.. it all seems to come naturally to you guys... Thank you for your time and bye for now, Nicole
