Sniper Sight Range

Hey there.

 

Iam unsure if it allready exist or been talked about. I tried search main site for mod , forums and tried google aswell certain keywords. To see if i could find something allready existing without any luck.

 

It bothers me when i zoom in with a weapon with a powerfull sniper scope i cant see futher away then as i normal do when just using zoom on normal weapon.

 

Yes i can see target much closer up ... But shouldn you be able to see longer aswell ? Im pretty sure that how a scope or binocular works.

 

I played the game endless times, and often i know there is a guard / monster right infront of me the way iam aiming. But i simply cant see it before i walk closer. When i hit a certain range i see it. But from that spot i also see it with my normal eyesight using a no scope weapon.

 

So can a mod be made to "fix" this ?

 

Or does it allready exist and its just me being incompotent in my searches ?

I like this idea.

A zoom in/out button would be cool too.

 

The only problems would come from limitations with the Actor Fade being too low to even spawn them at a certain distance.

 

Perhaps zooming in could increase the actor fade in just that direction?

 

I tried to test to see if I could make things spawn by just moving the camera forward with ~tfc but it didn't work, so that's definitely not the way to do it.

Well if you cant make em spawn by zooming forward. Then how about you run in range until it spawns like normal, and then you can run back to spot you wanna snipe from ?

 

Right now you cant even do that. If you run to make something spawn and run back to a good sniper position it disapears again from sight. Even tho a sniper should be able to see and shoot longer then most weapons.

Yeah the engine is picky and only uses the player position as the point of reference.

 

The New Vegas Configator can make the fade distance extend way past what you can get with in-game options by editing the .ini for you.

 

But even a fade of 30 isn't enough for us snipers, I know exactly what you mean.

 

If they made a game with such a wide open environment, they should have made it so you can actually see far, otherwise it just looks bad. FO3 was better because it was harder to see far away for most of the game. Maybe if they decide to make another clone using the same outdated engine, it can take place in a huge ruined city so they don't have to put forth the effort to give us some decent LOD. /rant
